Question about Toshiba Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a toshiba satellite L30 11D. The CD drive has stopped working and is no longer recognised at all by the computer. A suggestion has been made to remove the drive and then plug it back in. How do I do this ? The drive is a Matshita which everyone seems to be having trouble with. Thanks C.

Before you go puling it apart, check in device manager to see if it appears, if it does and still isn't recognised try downloading CDgone, right click on the downloaded file and choose Extract All, then double-click on cdgone.reg Say "Yes" to the merge question and then reboot. See if the drives have returned. You may have to re-install CD burning applications, since they're the ones that tinker with the filter setting in the registry that caused the drives to disappear. Good luck

Cd slipped off of the drive inside of laptop

If the drive no longer works, I suggest taking it to a professional, or a computer store, they have many ways of fixing it. If you want to, you can purchase an external CD drive for about $40-50. I personally recommend BestBuy/GeekSquad to fix your problem.

Toshiba Satellite laptop no longer sees DVD drive

Goto start -> run ..... type regedit
hit ok.

goto the following registry setting

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Look to the right and delete the following
"UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters"

Close regedit and restart PC. If that doesnt work then the dvdrom is bad.

Toshiba Satellite P105-s6147 CD/dvd drive some how uninstalled

Registry edits not usually a good idea. System restore is your friend. Some DVD burning apps will change your registry and cause the CD/DVD to disappear. Uninstall the new burning app, or system restore to a time you know it was working.

The drive is bad and needs to be replaced. The latency you experience in loading XP when the drive is connected is because the computer is attempting to recognize the drive and it cannot.

Laptop wont recognise dvd drive after installing Vista

Hi Docpayton,  Sounds like you are having hardware connection issues.  First, i would try right clicking on 'my computer' and under that, go to manage.  Find the tab that says device manager and find your CD/DVD drive.  Uninstall the product/ or press delete. (whichever one it is)  Now your computer should immediately notice you have a cd drive and will install it for you.  I hope this works, because i havent had a computer with that problem in a long time, and i am running off of all i remember...  Tell me if you need anymore help.

I suggest a firmware update from Toshiba. If this does not help then your laser in the drive is no longer capable of this task. Also just thought about it but make sure the media that you are burning to is the same as the drive + or - R's
