Go here and download the file that is for your phone. Connect in itunes and put the mouse over restore. Hold shift and click restore. Use the file you downloaded and let it work. You will have to use a at&t sim to activate it.

Cant update my iphone 4 (model mc609ll )

Perform a recovery-mode restoreIf your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is already showing the "Connect to iTunes" screen, please go to step 5.
  1. Connect your USB cable to your computer but not to the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until step 3.
  2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
    • If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
  3. While pressing and holding the Home button down, connect the USB cable to the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The device should turn on.
  4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen. When this screen appears, you can release the Home button:

    Note:
If the image of a battery appears, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again. If you don't see the Connect to iTunes screen, try these steps 1 through 4 again.
  5. iTunes should automatically open and display the following message:
[img alt="Alert text: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode..."" width="520" height="241" src="http://km.support.apple.com/library/APPLE/APPLECARE_ALLGEOS/HT1808/HT1808--recovery_alert-002-en.png" data-hires="true">
"iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
If iTunes not open after two minutes, please open iTunes yourself.
  6. Use iTunes to restore the device.

My applev iphone 3g wont start and only the apple logo appears no slider

See if you force the phone into recovery mode:

Turn off your phone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone to turn off. If you cannot turn off your phone using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When your phone turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons. Then, leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see "Connect to iTunes" on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don't see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. After restoring from backup, you must sync to restore your iTunes content.

My iphone won't search without the screen getting dark and un readable then freezes

iPhone into DFU mode so you can do an iTunes firmware restore follow these steps:
Open iTunes and connect the iPhone to your Mac.
Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.
After exactly 10 seconds release the Sleep/Wake button. Continue holding the home button until you iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.
The iPhone screen will remain black
: It may take a few attempts to get your iPhone into DFU mode. Generally, I hold down both buttons then release the Home button just before I think the Apple logo would appear. If you are still holding both buttons down and you see the Apple logo you are holding them down for too long!

My iphone says "iphone is

Too many wrong tries of entering the wrong passcode can lead to a disabled iPhone. You have to restore the phone in iTunes to be able to use it again. To be able for iTunes to detect your iPhone in recovery mode and enable you to restore, you have to enter dfu mode. Just press the home button and sleep button simultaneously for 10 seconds then release the sleep button but still hold the home button until iTunes can detect the phone. Then press restore and let it do the rest of the process.
