How to replace power socket connected to the mobo in Gateway 4540?

    thanks
i've stripped the mobo, it's got lots of screws in it but basically you have to remove the HDD, the DVD, strip the mobo from screen and--- the most important, there is a thin plastic strip on the top edge of the keyboard that connects the mobo to the screen. after that. it's easy. looking for a local socket now.. if not ebay will work.
    thanks alot.

You have to strip it down, remove motherboard, desolder old DC socket and solder new DC socket in.
If you never done soldering, then i not recommend to do it by yourself, otherwise go ahead - it's not very hard.
Unfortunately i can't find any instructions how to strip it down, but you can get replacement DC socket here

No DVD audio wire connector on emachines ms-6741 motherboard?

Purchase a PCI sound-card, with "line-in" (BLUE-coloured) socket, and attach it to the motherboard. Connect from the "stereo-audio-output" to that socket on the sound-card.

Have replaced this mobo "3"

Are the leads to the motherboard to the power button loose? In some motherboards there is a separate lead for the light of the button, or the LED. That would be my first guess.

The plug in socket inside the Gateway MC7321U laptop is broke and I need a new one where can I buy one and how to change it out.

in general, most of the ac plug is soldered to the motherboard itself, if the laptop is still within warranty, ask for a mobo replacement.

I have a gateway 831gm. it has an Intel (Augsburg) 915G Motherboard and a Pentium 4 630 cpu 800MHz fsb & 2MB L2 cache. i've been looking for a cpu upgrade and saw that the Pentium E5200 Dual Core has...

If both motherboards are LGA775 socket, then the next concern is whether or not the case is capable of having the new motherboard installed into it. Disconnect all power cables to all dv drives or cd drives and hard drives. Disconnect all ribbons from drives to the mother board. If you can get to all of the screws that hold the motherboard into the case, you get away without removing drives. Once you've got the motherboard then you can disconnect the power cable from the motherboard. Remove the memory chips, disconnect the sound cable from the old motherboard. install the memory chips onto the new mobo, Connect the power cable to the new mobo, then install the new mobo into the case. Replace the ribbons from the drives to the mobo, replace the power cables to the drives and reinstall the sound cable to the cd or dv drive. You should be done now.

Gateway series 300 with 4000783 moBo, no visual

Gateway are most likely wrong. These Gateway cp's usually have a motherboard failure which stops the cpu socket working, replacing the motherboard is a far cheaper option than buying a new pc, restore windows using my rstore disk which uses your registered version of XP. You could put the hdd in a dell computer, set the jumper omn the back to secondary master or slave of either the primary master ( C:\) or the secondary master. Then copy the files you wnt to an external source or the dell pc.
