My E drive is not working. how can i fix it.
Have you tried cleaning the laser assembly? If your OS still sees the drive then it may just be having trouble reading.
Try this
First try to boot from your xp cd. If it fails to boot from the cd then your drive is screwed. If it does boot from the XP cd then ONLY try the following
Click Start.
Click Run.
The Run dialogue box appears.
Type devmgmt.msc in the run dialogue box and click OK.
Click on the plus sign next to DVD/CD ROM Drives.
Locate your DVD/CD ROM drive in the list of devices.
Verify the type of drive in your computer and that the type of media you are using is supported by the drive. Use the table below to determine the supported media types.
DVD+/-RW Read CD or DVD media, write DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD-R, CD-R, CD-RW media.

The drives are seen in "My Computer", and one is recognized as a DVD-RW and the other is a CD-RW. I have restarted, and another burning program recognizes every CD-RW unit and DVD-RW Unit, including the USB CD-RW unit that I have. The Pinnacle program only recognizes my old CD-RW unit. According to the Pinnacle install disk, the Pinnacle program should recognize all burning units, including the newer DVD-RW unit. I have been trying to look for avaialable drivers, but neither Pinnacle nor Steinberg offer assistance on thier websites. Again, any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I know that Pinnalce Clean is an old program, but it does work real good.
The Pinnacle/Steinberg Clean Plus 4.0 was released in 2003, with an update patch (4.01) that I beleive was released in early 2004. The DVD-RW unit was purchased in 2006 or 2007. I also have a USB CD-RW unit (a TDK unit)and I installed the drivers for this unit, but Clean Plus does not recognize that unit either.
