Delphi Roady xt, cassette adapter problem

Have a Roady XT with cassette adapter. When cassette is inserted, XM comes on briefly, then cassette changes directions, XM comes on briefly again, then cassette pops out. Is this a defective adapter, or a problem with the factory cassette deck?

I have a 99 Ford Explorer with combo CD/tape and it does the same thing. I looked in the Explorer owner's manual to look for a way to deactivate the auto tape reversal but no luck. Frustrating but heck, that's one less wire dangling in front of my dash...

This problem did not occur initially with the cassette adapter but rather developed over time. However it is intermittent for me. What I believe is happening is that the the wheels that turn inside the adapter are binding and causing the auto-reverse feature of the cassette player to kick in repeatedly. This is very annoying when it happens.

You could try opening up the adapter to see if you can remedy whatever is causing it to bind or possibly lubricating the wheels. The wheels don't actually do anything other than helping to hold the adapter in place so that it makes proper contact with the pick-up in the tape player.

I was thinking how can I trick the cassette into keeping the cassette in there because every time I put it in, it just came right back out
This is what I did
Go and find a real cassette and cut out a little piece of the cassette tape and set that aside
Every cassette is different so find a way to attach tape from a real cassette to the cassette part of the cassette adapter
You need to attach the tape so it is flat over the head of the cassette just like in a real cassette, which is the part where the music is transferred, once u get it over the head the cassette deck will think it is a real cassette and it will stay in the deck, the tape doesn't even need to be perfectly flat like in a real cassette tape, it can be all messed up and it will still work but flatter is probably better, so you are just tricking the deck into believing that it is a real cassette, it worked for me and hopefully it will work for you, tell me how it works out

Delphi Roady XT. Changes channels by itself. Can I fix that?

Try a new wall plug/adapter. You need the 5V adapter from Belkin. Worked like a charm for me--after suffering with this problem for a week....only cost $10.

My delphi roady plays through cassette adaptor. Volume is very low even when audio level is moved all the way up. ???

You need to cycle back through after puttung the cassette in. Mine did that (before the cassette feature stopped working altogether) and I would press my "source" button so it would go from the cassette to the radio, then CD and back to the cassette - the sound would be back to normal again.
