Check on back for 4 lights that are diagnostic lights then post what those lights show, also post the model of the Dell PC.

Several possibilities here, no quick solution.
1. Could be the graphics card is dead or monitor unplugged. If its a PC and the box has been moved recently, the graphics card could have been dislodged in the slot. In any case check for signs that the computer is continuing with normal startup. Such as HD activity led flashing. If the machine shuts down immediately when you press the on button, it is probably not the graphics card.
2. Motherboard, could be faulty, do you get any beep codes when starting up? It's probably Phoenix BIOS, but there are others. The beep coded for this BIOS are in 3 blocks of 3 beeps. To check if its the motherboard, if it's a PC, power off, open the box, and remove any cards in add on slots, Including memory barettes. Power on again, no beep probably signifies mother board fault, so replace.
3. Could be a faulty add on card such as internal Modem or sound card, so do as above. and try booting without add on cards but with memory in slots.
4. could be a rogue Hard disc or CD/DVD, so take unplug the cabled connecting them to the mother board.
5. Even though the thing lights up, it could still be the power unit and the only way to check this is with another power unit.

Good luck, for further help email me at its.the.merovingian@gmail.com

Dell mini computer power button blinks orange whats the cause?

Hello,

A blicking power light and no boot indicates one of two things. First, an error on the motherboard caused by failed capacitors or two a power supply that is not putting out all of the correct voltages. To check the motherboard look over this article:
http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/dell-optiplex-745-repair/
If you don't see any bad capacitors then the power supply will need to be changed.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

My laptop wont turn on and yet its fully charge. The power light keeps on blinking with orange and when i push the start button, it turns green and when i stop pushing, it turns orange again-blinking.

Hi.

This sounds like there is a problem with the battery.
Remove the AC mains power and take out the battery from the laptop. Plug AC power back in and try booting the laptop up.
If it boots up let it boot into Windows/linux and then shut the computer down as normal. Remove AC power and re-insert the battery. Plug AC back in and power it up, see if it does the same thing. If it does the same thing the battery is faulty. If it boots up with the battery in then there was a glitch.

Regards.

Dimension 3100 turns on the power button has a steady orange light there is also an orange light on motherboard cpu and power suplly fans working but wont bot up

Blinking amber (orange) indicates a problem with the power supply inside the computer. If the system cannot boot and there is a solid amber light, this could indicate a problem with the power connections for the CPU on the system board (see "Power Problems" in your Owner's Manual).

My computer is blinking orange light

In addition to the power supply, motherboard issues can cause the blinking power light and no boot problems. The Optiplex 270, 520, 620, 745 and 755 units are all known to have issues with capacitors on the motherboard. Here is a link to an article about this issue and what to do about it:

http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/dell-optiplex-745-repair/

I hope this helps, if sol please rate my solution.

No display and wont boot

A Blinking Amber or Yellow power button means that the power supply is receiving power from the source but is unable to properly distribute it to the components. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Power supply is easier and cheaper to replace.

Dell GX 280 wont start

An Amber blinking power button indicates a low voltage problem. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

Dell comp

Hi,
To help you better , could you let me know , when the system goes into sleep mode, the power light in the front of the tower is it amber or blinking amber or is it of some other color.

If the power button is blinking amber , the power supply on the unit is going bad.

Thanks

Booting up

one light is for hardrive activity , the other is to show the power is on.. the flashing one is most likely the power light as most computers will tell you when thier ill....the beeping is an error code and should be in some pattern EG: Power LED blinks red twice, once a second, followed by a two second pause. Or something like that. Take note of the pattern and repost it here, then we can give you a specific area to look at.
