Problem for Emerson EWC19T3 19 in. TV/VCR/DVD Combo

GFM TELEVISION! THAT IS THE PROBLEM

WE RECENTLY COME INTO POSESSION OF A GFM TV! WE FOUND A UNIVERSAL REMOTE THAT SAYS IT HAS THE CODES FOR THAT TYPE OF TV HOWEVER WE CAN NOT GET IT TO WORK. WE HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING AND IT WILL NOT TAKE THE CODES. IT WILL NOT SCAN FOR CHANNELS ALSO WHICH IS WHAT THIS NEW "HDTV" **** MAKES YOU DO!
CAN ANYONE OUT THERE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM? WE CAN'T SEEM TO GET THE DARN THING TO DO NOTHING JUST SIT THERE WITH A BLUE SCREEN AND THAT IS IT!

have gfm 26" hdtv. remote was dropped on tile floora and no longer worked. no universal remotes will work - not even gfm's. went to remotes.com on the web. orig. remotes no longer mfgd. replacement unit is $39.95. worked right out of the box. batteries were in the unit. no muss, no fuss, no codes.
