Question about RIM BlackBerry 7290

RIM Blackberry 7290 doesn't boot up... when I put the battery in... i see a hourglass for 3 secs or 4 secs then screen goes blank again ... for a while and then the process repeats again..., again, ... I tried to connect it to my PC. but it doesn't work b/c it goes off and on . plz reply if someone could help...

This is due to the OS you need to just reinstall the OS.

Hi there

Whenever your screen goes white again just hit the ALT+RIGHT SHIFT+DEL your blackberry will reset itself. It will go black for about 2 to 4 seconds then you will see the famous blackberry hourglass. Be patient and in about 2 to 5 minutes your blackberry will reset.

Try freeing up some space on your blackberry by deleting some unecessary files and do not run too many applications at once.

Hi , i bought a curve 8520 3 weeks ago and it has been brill ,however last night the screen went white wiv the hourglass..i hav took the battery out for several hrs..and then replaced it...and my phone...

The BlackBerry has the feature on auto-start. When you insert the Battery, the device will automatically boot-up. It'll be showing an hour glass while loading the settings. But if it is longing for more than 10 minutes, there might be some error in the OS. It's better to contact a near-by authorised Service Center.

Have you tried resetting the device? Not sure if you have a reset key - If so at the back or under the battery cover?

If not try to hold down left Alt, Right shift and delete for a couple of seconds until the screen goes blank.

Solution for 7290 blackerry frezzes up how do i reset?


Try resetting the phone by powering off, removing the battery leaving for 30 seconds reinserting the battery and powering on.

If that doesn't work hold down ALT+RIGHT SHIFT(CAP)+DELETE keys simultaneously unti you get a blank screen.

Blackberry 7290 device error:373 reset


Hi Anand

Practically speaking i spent 3 hours looking for your solution but nothing much even the BB intelectuals failed .Try these steps out it may resolve the issue and lets hope for the best .

This error : 373 : Device Error means that the Timers are corroupted

1. Remove the battery for at least 5 minute.
2. Make sure u have working SIM card, other wise remove the old SIM.
3.You should receive an Hour glass spinning. Give a few minutes, after that u will see a 507 message on the bb screen, (which means there is no app loaded on the bb)
4.If this dosent work
Use application loader to wipe handheld clean and reinstall base software but do backup your data

And please let me know .

I would download the latest Blackberry OS from Blackberry.com and install it via the Desktop Manager. You can get the latest OS from this URL:

You can find the model by removing the battery and it should be on a sticker.

My blackberry 7290 Rim(T-Mobile)says: Device error


An unspecified error has occurred with an application on your Blackberry smartphone.


Resolution In BlackBerry Desktop Manager, run the BlackBerry Application Loader tool.
Note: The following procedure will delete all data and applications from your BlackBerry smartphone.
  1. Disconnect your Blackberry smartphone from your computer.
  2. Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
  3. Open BlackBerry Application Loader.
  4. Reset your Blackberry smartphone.
    1. Remove the battery cover.
    2. Remove and reinsert the BlackBerry battery to reset the BlackBerry smartphone.
    3. Replace the battery cover.
    To perform a hard reset on a RIM 850 device, RIM 857 device, RIM 950 device, or RIM 957 device, insert the end of a paperclip inside the small hole on the back of the BlackBerry device.
  5. When the LED indicator has turned on, reconnect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer.
  6. Click Next.
  7. On the following screen you will see either USB:Unknown or USB:; click Next.
  8. Select the required applications from the applications list and click Next. The firmware is loaded to your BlackBerry smartphone.

Rim Blackberry 7290 will not charge battery, does not exhibit the "charging icon" when it is plugged into anything. Where can I get it repaired ?


I do apologize you're having this issue with the Blackberry. I assumed have you have tried different outlets. Try to remove the battery completely for 20-40 seconds, and let it re-boot and try again with putting the charger in. Is it loose? Do you have another charger?
If the icon is not coming up, it's something with the OS we have to update.
You can check out www.blackberry.com/btsc for the desktop manager, and the latest and great software for you style of blackberry. They have number on their for return and repair as well.
Running the application loader is like giving the phone an oil change. You wanna do it 1-2 times a month to keep it moving smoothly. RIM updates their softwares every 2-4 months.

You can desk the battery, but as I said if the icon is not coming up, it's a software problem.

Unlock BlackBerry 7290


Unfortunately, the unlock code for a BB 7290 is unique to each phone. The unlock code is based on the IMEI of your BB. After getting an unlock code then the steps to unlock are:
1. go to options

2 scroll to SIM CARD then press jog dial in once to select it

3. Type MEPD (not case sensitive) ( you will not see text appear on screen while typing )

4. Does it say Network active? if so your phone is locked

5. Press and hold the alt key (half moon looking key on the lower left side)

6. as you are holding the alt key type in MEPE (not case sensitive) ( you will not see text appear on screen while typing )

7. type in the unlock code when prompted

8. After entering the code press the jog dial in

9. Your phone is now unlocked!
