Question about Pioneer DVR630H DVD Recorder

1 Answer

Pioneer HDD DVR DVR630H - in Australia

Basically the problem is occuring when trying to access the hard disk and this error message displays on the monitor: "Hard disk info is incorrect" and on the recorder lcd display it diplays "HDD ERR". When I then try to access the disk navigator for the hard drive the same message "Hard disk info is incorrect" occurs and it prompts to re-initialise the HDD. When attempt to initialise HDD now says "NO DISK".
There seems to be quite a lot of people having this problem around the world.
A new Seagate 7200RPM 160GB HDD does not fix the problem. Same error but does not keep trying to access the disk. All PSU rails are at correct voltage all the time and ripple free.
Recorder will read DVD disks when HDD problem times out.
Is a trip to Pioneer service the only way to get this fixed??

When fitting a replacement hdd the hdd must be paired with the DVR using the Service Remote Controller used only at Pioneer Service Centres.

Have an error message on screen sayng NO HDD???

The system does give this message when the logic board can't access the Hard Disk.
Can be anything, from a complete over filled HD till a defect controller or just a corrupted first sector. Check what the user manual says about initialise the hard disk. If that won't help, consult a tech close to you. Btw. after an initialise or format you will have lost everything you recorded till now. So if something important is on the disk, ask a tech to get out the drive and recover the important stuff. This could cost you.

This is normal for this player. To disable this, you would need to turn off the TV guide function.

HDD Error

Since my last post, I have rectified the problem.....

1) I opened the unit to find a seagate HDD
2) I downloaded the Seatools in dos format and burned the image on to a cd rom
3)Taking out the HDD from my recorder,I hooked it up to another pc and ran the seatools disk @ bootup.
I tried for 2 hrs to repair the bloody thing ( 160 gb!) so i gave up and tried to erase the full HDD...which worked.
4) on my laptop i navigated to Pioneers site and found my recorder along with instructions and a zip file that contained 2 files.
5)After reading the destructions erm i mean instructions ;) I put the HDD back into the recorder and followed the instructions again..

Crossing my fingers i turned the recorder back on and to my amazement i was able to have more functionality..BUT... it says my HDD name error so I ran the disk again and wallah! all worked XDDDD

Here are the links

http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/content/support/support/update/DVR.html check if your model is there.

I hope you fix yours XD

Dvd recorder wont finalize etc

The DVD drive works harder when trying to record the info faster. As the unit ages, tracking is less precise. DVD-R copies occur at 4-16X real time. Try DVD-RW disks which copy slower (now that the price has dropped substantially), and you may find that your aging drive can still copy programs from the HD to the DVD.
