Yahoo mail will not start ie error 14

My answer is going to be somewhat flippant, so tune out if you are easily offended. There are a lot of people having this problem. Google search "IE error 14" or "Internet explorer error 14". There are lots of questions and answers regarding this.
My flippant answer is to first quit using IE (Google is cleaner, gives me the answers I am looking for, and is very configurable). Second, quit using Yahoo... but then these are both personal choices. I tried to be flippant... couldn't keep with it. I really hope you resolve your problem.

Why my pc cant display instant IM from yahoo messenger

Your problem is with Internet Explorer - even if you do not use it and have another browser set as default. IE plays an unseen but essential part in the operation of Yahoo Messenger
Keep your IE updated - the latest version is 8 for Vista and XL
You may have scripting disabled in your Internet Explorer.
To enable scripting:
Launch IE
Click "Tools"
Click "Internet Options."
Click "Security" tab.
Click "Custom Level" button.
Scroll down to "Script ActiveX.controls marked safe for scripting"- enable
Scroll down to "Scripting - Active scripting" - enable
Scroll down to "Scripting of Java applets" - enable
Click OK
Click OK
Restart IE

Still not working ? Update software

use the links on this page to help update software.

After updating check you do not have old versions of Flashplayer, Shockwaveplayer and Java running alongside the latest - this can cause conflicts
Start / control panel / programs
delete any old versions

Internet Explore Script Error

Please be aware that Internet Explorer plays a very important role in Yahoo Messenger. For this reason you must keep it up to date even if you have another browser as default. Running Messenger 10 you should have IE 8
1) Update your IE
3)Visit Microsoft support and check out script errors
You can download the Automatic IE checking software here as well - if you have XP you will have to transfer to the XP page - Read the "Tip" window.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308260

Finally you need to keep your browser(s) clean
Download 'ccleaner' and use it daily. Run it through a couple of times, using the factory settings and the 'Run Cleaner' control until 0 bytes are seen to be cleaned following a scan
Run the 'Registry' from the left hand toolbar but 'Save' any changes after opting to 'repair' errors.Never make changes to your Registry without saving the information.

Not able to log on to yahoo messenger

Your settings may be set up wrong. You can find out how to change your connection info at: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messeng…
Be sure you have the latest Macromedia Flash Player installed. http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/…
You might have a corrupt file in your Yahoo! Messenger directory. To fix the problem, you must manually delete the "Messenger" directory on your C: drive (default), then reinstall the Yahoo! Messenger application. Read about it at: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messeng…
Sometimes you may have an accounts locked or invalid cookies error, log in on the yahoo home page and try to launch messenger again.
Clearing your cache, or browsing history works in some instances…go to your tools and internet options.
For Internet Explorer 6 and 7 you may want to start by going to Internet Options and restoring everything to default. Make sure you are set to Internet and not Intranet.
If you are using firewall then off its protection from the control panel.
After this your problem will be fixed

Please rate me if this solution works for you

Thanks......Have a great time

I can't see my messages

You may not have Internet Explorer as your default browser but it still plays an important part in the operation of Yahoo Messenger. It sits as a link between your browser and Yahoo Messenger.
For this reasson you must keep it up to date and the support software for IE as well.

Keep your software up to date by using an update checker

http://www.filehippo.com/updatechecker/
Start with IE and then any support software for Yahoo Messenger - Flashplayer - Shockwaveplayer - Java etc.
Cross check by visiting the Yahoo Messenger Scripting Help page

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger10/notices/mstabuguqscripterror.html

After updating check you do not have old versions of Flashplayer, Shockwaveplayer and Java running alongside the latest - this can cause conflicts
You will have 2 versions if you have 2 browsers so be careful not to delete them.
Start / control panel / programs
delete any old versions

To enable scripting:Internet Explorer8

Click "Tools"
Click "Internet Options."
Click "Security" tab.
Click "Custom Level" button.
Scroll down to "Script ActiveX.controls marked safe for scripting"- enable
Scroll down to "Scripting - Active scripting" - enable
Scroll down to "Scripting of Java applets" - enable
Click OK
Click OK
Restart IE

YAHOO ALL NEW MAIL SCRIPTING

If you are chatting from 'Yahoo All New Mail' and have script problems - try going into 'Yahoo Classic Mail' via the 'Options' tab.If its OK you may have a resolution problem - The screen resolution for All New Mail should be a minimum 1024 x 768 pixels.
Right click on a blank area of your desktop and select 'Personalize'.
Select 'Display Settings.Make a note of your resolution setting. Ramp it up if required.
If this presents a problem go to 'Options' in Yahoo Mail and tranfer to Yahoo Classic Mail.

Cannot open attachments in Yahoo emai.

Hello,

I'm guessing that anyone that is having problems with their Yahoo or Google Email, has recently installed Internet Explorer 8 to their pc.IE8 prevents you from opening your mail, (after you sign in, or if it lets you sign in). This is not an isolated problem, everyone is having the same problem.

You just have to uninstall IE 8, if you have Vista, go to Control Panel, then click on System Maintenance, then, under Windows Updates, click on "View Installed Updates".(Search for IE 8 and uninstall) On Vista, IE 8 is an Installed Update, click on Remove, this will remove the IE 8 Update and convert back to your old version of IE. (Probably IE 7)

If you have XP, IE 8 is classified a Program, therefore, go to Control Panel, then under Programs, click on Uninstall a Program, (Search for IE 8 and uninstall)
