You may have a siphoning problem.
Sometimes the drain hose is positioned too
low ,or if it is forced too far down into the standpipe, a siphon can develop as it begins to fill
pull the fill hose out of the standpipe and hold it at least as high as the top of the washer and start the fill cycle.
if it works , then find and correct the siphon cause.

Water continuously drains and fills, and never gets particularly high

You will need to check you washer drain hose and make sure it is only inserted into your house drain pipe in the wall no deeper than 4-6 inches, alternately your house drain needs to be as high as the top of the washer lid. Be sure to secure your drain line from the washer to one of the water shut off fittings with a zip tie. You are most likely experiencing a siphon action because the washer hose is inserted too deep in the house drain. Pleazer Appliance...

Hi, I am trying to help daughter-in-law get their

Hello annp, thank you for your post! Based on the symptoms you are describing, it does sounds like a siphoning issue. Generally speaking, the drain hose should come up above the washer tub and please make sure the drain hose is not too deep in to the house drain pipe. The drain hose should only be submerged 4-8 inches into the house drain pipe. If correct, otherwise the unit might be experiencing a communication with the control board and water fill valve. At this point, please reach out to an expert technician to ensure the appropriate replacement part is ordered and is installed correctly to prevent future issues. I hope this information helps to some degree - please do not hesitate to reconnect.

Top load barrell will not spin on rinsr nor spin cycle

if it is syphoning......pull the drain house out of the stand pipe it is in tooooooo far. once it is too far down it does not have an air gap anymore which causes it to fill and drain and never reach maximum water level. the hose should only be in the stand pipe 6 inches. when you pull the hose out of the wall and you hear it go glub glub glub and water exits the hose that is a major sign of syphoning. And yes it can be intermitten. Let me know how it goes and if you have any other questions.

Frigidaire wont fill,just keeps draining

Your drain hose must be 36 inches from the ground. Any lower and the water siphons out.

My dishwasher will not fill with water?

The water level sensor is not working right.  Generally, these are floats in the lower right side of the inside tub.  They jam up and will not move due to detergent buildup.  Gently move the float up and down to clear the issue.  If you have a water heat cycle, use it next time to help 'melt' the detergent buildup.
If you don't have a float, you have a sensor located in the bottom of the machine with a tube going up to the tub.  It has a thin hose and two wires coming out of it and is about 3 inches in diameter and about half an inch thick.  It has broken and will need to be replaced.  Test it by shorting the two wires and seeing if the washer fills.
