Hey. It's full out possible that you have it on the right setting...but concider this - the switcher inside the sewing machine could be broken (ie. It's moving to different stitches - but not the one you have the outside set for)

It happened to me (pc o crap singer model)

SOURCE: Touch Tronic 2001 singer Brand

Hi, I have this same machine (I have 2 actually) and I LOVE this machine. There is a reset button underneath the machine - press that and chances are everything will work like normal again. And yes, these machines are repairable. I needed new gears on mine in January - it cost around $120 but it was well worth it. This machine will run forever. I looked at buying a new one and they are cheap plastic and in my opinion not worth it. Good luck!

SOURCE: Needle Thread breaking after about 30 seconds of quilting

Make sure the feed dogs are dropped (or feed dog cover is on - I can't remember which way this machine works). The stitch length on the machine has no function so ignore it. (I set it to zero so the machine doesn't have to work as hard). Hopefully this is all that's wrong. If not, use a shorter setting for the stitch length on the regulator, oil the hook and move slowly and smoothly.
Good luck!

SOURCE: Inspiration 4205 stitch length won't change

Are you certain that the pattern selector is set for straight stitch and not buttonhole?

Turn the handwheel so that the needle is up and the take-up lever is in it's highest position. Then turn the pattern selector knob through all of the patterns back and forth a few times. Finally, select straight stitch and see if the length works. If not, need to take it to a repair person to determine the course of action.

Do you have a diagram of the buttons to click on to get the needle position to change in the Pfaff 1473?

The needle position of the Pfaff Creative 1473 can only be changed for straight stitches. Use the stitch width + button (the top of the pair of buttons in the middle of the row below the LCD display) to move the needle from left to right. The range of positions depends on your stitch choice. There are 19 positions available for stitch programs 01, 03, and 04. There are 17 positions available for program 05 (triple straight stitch). The stitch programs are indicated on page 2 (page 6 of the PDF) of the manual. The use of the stitch width buttons is on page 30 (page 34 of the PDF). See pages 50-53 for additional information. Different symbols will appear in the display to show the needle position (to the left, center or to the right).

The manual is available from Pfaff on the product page: https://www.pfaff.com/en-us/machines/creative-1473 . The current link to the manual is https://www.pfaff.com/SiteMedia/PFAFF/Products/Machines/Support-manuals/Creative_1473-manual-EN.pdf .

I hope this helps.

I have a singer treddle machine. I forget which way to turn adjustment to make stitches smaller? Have original book somewhere, even a copy. No luck finding them. Righty tighty or lefty loosen?

The following should help your memory. Regulating the length of the stitch: The machine can be adjusted to from six to thirty stitches per inch, as indicated by the numbers on the stitch indicator plate. Changing the length of the stitch is accomplished as follows: Loosen the stitch length stop control (B, Fig. 12) and move it to the bottom of the slot. Move the stitch length lever (A, Fig. 12) to the desired stitch length. Now, move the stop control up until the control plate (visible in the stitch length slot) touches the bottom of the stitch length lever. Tighten the thumb screw (B) with finger pressure only. At this point, the stitch length is "marked," and you can move the lever up to sew in reverse at approximately the same stitch length, and then return it to your desired forward length. Singer 4530- stitch length adjustment not working. How do I fix?

Since you indicated the machine has been cleaned and lubed, that is probably not the problem unless the stitch length lever is sticky or the feed dogs are hanging up somewhere. Suggest perhaps directing heated air from a handheld hair dryer into the internal mechanics (focus on the stitch selector lever and the feed dog mechanics) and see if that loosens anything.

How do I lengthen the stitch length?

Consult your owner's manual. On mechanical machines, there is usually a lever on the right side of the machine that slides from zero to 4. Zero will stitch in place, but the more you move the lever toward the #4, the longer the stitch will be. Usually, pushing the lever up above the zero will reverse the stitch.

On electronic machines, there is a setting on the screen for lengthening the stitch.

Bernia 730 record stitch lenght

You should have a dial that adjusts the stitch up or down to make it more narrow or lengthen the stitch. Try it on scrap fabric first until you find the stitch you wish. It will stay in that position until you want to change it.

I have an elnita 255 and bought it brand new way back when...the problem I have is I can not get this machine to do a baste stitch. since I bought the machine new it has never done basting. Even when I...

The straight stitches can be shortened and lengthened utilizing the length selector. If you are attempting to do this with zigzag the stitch will be the same distance but the fabric will appear as if the material hardly moves. This will be changed by using a wide stitch. If you can't truly get a different stitch length on the straight stitch you may need the feed dog adjusted by a pro so that it will give you a longer stitch.
