Sony digital camera problems

Either your camera is shorting the battery or the battery is no longer holding a charge. The easiest solution is to try a different battery. If that doesn't work the problem is with your camera.

If its less than a year old take it back to the vendor and ask them you demonstrate it for you. If they can't demonstrate it to your satifaction request a refund or replacement. I Suggest you take the receipt or proof of payment as well.

Canon PowerShot S2 IS camera showing code E18

Hello there,
The E18 error is related to the LENS not able to retract fully. If it is still under warranty, I would advise you bring it to the nearest service center. This is to avoid further damages. Otherwise, you can try a few things below.
There are a couple of things you can do.
1. Turn it on and then off. Spray canned air around the lens.
If trick 1 will not work out, try this.
2. Make sure the battery is fully charged. Turn on the camera and then give it a couple of firm whacks on the side. Make sure nothing is blocking the lens and wait for it to fully retract.
Let me know how it goes.

New camera with fully charged battery won't turn on

It may be something more serious, or your new batteries may be too low for the camera to work properly, but the problem you describe is frequently due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a clean cloth (heavy corrosion buildups may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment, clean the contacts at both ends of the batteries, and reinstall them in the camera. Assuming that the batteries are fresh/fully charged, this takes care of about 90% of the startup problems. I hope it works for you.

Camera won't turn on.

Make sure the battery contacts are clean. The rechargable batteries looses their charge even when they are not in use. It is important to fully charge the first time the rechargable batteries.

My camera doesnt work.

i suggest that there is likely a motherboard fault or a board fuse has blown. the fuse needs to be replaced by a qualified technician, this will prevent any further damage to motherboard.

I have the same problem. Removing the memory card and then starting up seemed to fix it; the camera would then start up ok even with the card in.

Canon S2 IS won't turn on with rechargeable batteries??

I would let them charge til you get an indication that they are done. TV remotes require very little power to operate, while digital cameras need a lot, so that's why the batteries would work in the remotes though not fully charged.
