I have no picture, sound is ok! A green light flashes then TV powers on and off! I noticed that the screen had become dark in the past couple of months

i have this television as well and i loved it until about five minutes ago when it went black i have sound but no picture also i heard a loud popping noise almost like when a fuse blows but it was loud enough to scare the crap out of me any ways i was just curious if you heard a popping noise and what that might mean

Same thing except I have no audio. Have checked connections and all appears to be hooked up correctly. It was working with a Nintendo Game Cube but now nothing.

I have the EXACT same problem! I came home after running a couple of errands with the TV left on, and it was doing just what you described. It is on, you can hear sound, but no picture. And about after 3 seconds of just the red light/sound/no picture, the green light starts flashing for about 3 seconds and then it turns itself off. It stays off for about 3 seconds, turns itself back on and starts all over. I have had this TV since July 2005, so 2 and half years.

I have a Toshiba model 52HM95 television . I have had this set for over two years now and today I turned it on and no pic but I have sound then it turns it's self off after a few seconds a green light flashes in a few groups of three times turns off then on . I read from one tech that the tv is trying to repair it's self and not to try turning it on or off while it's flashing as this could blow the bulb ! I left the tv alone it turned it's self on and off with the green light flashing in three's about a dozen times after which it never turned on but , it didn't turn off either now the red and green light flash on and off on and off together in unison like your emergency flashers on your car what's this mean ? If I turn the tv off manually or remotely it stops flashing both lights in unison and repeats the first steps all over again ending with the same results .

I have the Toshiba 52HM95 also with similar problem. Based on the manual(pg. 99_103) and the LED's on front panel, when it shuts off and comes on 8 times its a bad lamp unit. I talked to Toshiba today about it because the bulb looks completely fine with no evidence of it being blown. They said 90% of the time what the LED's are indicating is the problem, it is right. I personally think it is light engine even though bulb doesn't come on when i turn tv on because i have the housing on the light engine off and the color wheel isn't spinning while tv is on. Does that mean light engine is bad and needs replaced? All fans are working though. I just wonder if the light engine is bad, if that has anything to do with the reason why lamp doesn't turn on. I am going to call Toshiba again and try to break the problem down a little better to see if bulb and light engine are tied together meaning if light engine goes bad does it stop the juice right there to prevent damage to bulb. In the meantime any advice would be helpful.

Hello Fliper,

These symptoms denote a shutdown circuit problem, and a problem in the section of the TV that provides High Voltage to drive the raster creating circuitry. In your case this would be the DLP related circuitry this would include the light engine (white light blub/Color wheel drive circuitry or LED array, DLP chip and associated circuitry). In any event if you are not planning on working on this yourself (which I would not suggest for this type of problem), Have a qualified TV repair technician come over and examine the TV and give you an estimate on its cost.

I would also tell you to expect it to be rather high since for your description of the problem it looks like a light engine problem, however it could be as simple as a blown bulb or LED array. The Technician will find that out.

I hope this helps,
Thank you,
Shuttle83

So, I had a repair man come out day before yesterday, and turns out, it was the bulb that popped... all it took was a new one! Easy fix! Apparently 2 and a half years is good on one bulb. Its normal, they go bad just like a light bulb. Thanks for the help though!

Hello Jeff;
If the TV does not turn on or off, does not respond to the remote
control or the control panel buttons, or has audio but no video:
1.) Press and hold the POWER button on the control panel for ten seconds. The TV will turn off.
2.) Power on the TV and the green LED will flash quickly for about one minute. The changes you made most recently, before using SYSTEM RESET, may be lost.

If the TV does not respond to the remote control or to the control-panel buttons and TV will not power on or off.
• Unplug the AC power cord for 10 seconds.
• Press and hold the POWER button on the control panel for 10
seconds to perform a system reset.

If the TV turned itself off and the light on the front panel started to flash:
• Momentary power fluctuation can cause the TV to turn off to prevent damage. Wait for the green light to stop flashing and turn the TV on again.
• If the TV does not stay on, press the POWER button on the
control panel for ten seconds to perform a System Reset. If this happens frequently, obtain an AC line power conditioner/surge protector.
• An unusual digital signal may have been received, triggering a
protection circuit. Wait for the light to stop flashing and turn TV
on.

If the TV will not power off, press the POWER button on the control panel for ten seconds to perform a System Reset.

Should you still have problems, call for assistance at 1(800) 332-2119

I would not recommend using compressed air or any other method that would blow dust around- since the dust could make its way into the set's circuitry via the grille or vents and cause problems. Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment instead.

After researching online, my TV problem seems pretty common. TV - Mitsubishi 1080 series WS 55511. Green blinking light blinks for 3 seconds, then goes out and TV never turns on, but I hear a slight...

The green light is known as "The blinking green light of death". This refers to the green LED on the front panel of the TV that normally blinks when turned on after a power failure or when unplugged: the green light is supposed to flash for about 1 minute while both microprocessors boot up: If it won't stop blinking it means that they aren't communicating w/each other. Unfortunately, it's common in Mitsubishi & other RP TV's. Getting this fixed by a professional is around $6-700 with labor, parts, etc. It's really not worth it in my opinion. I would go out and buy an LCD or an LED TV.

THEN THE LIGHT TURNED OFF. thEN I TURNED ON WITH THE REMOTE AND THE YELLOW LIGHT TURNED ON AND A FEW SECONDS LATER CHANGED TO THE GREEN LIGHT AND THE TV TURNED ON. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, BETWEEN 10 AND 30 IT DID THE SAME THING. NOW IT IS OFF WITH A BLINKING RED LIGHT PERMANENTLY ON. TO TURN IT OFF I HAVE TO UNPLUG IT FROM THE WALL. I REPLACE THE LAMP A FEW WEEKS AGO AND IT IS FINE.

Panasonic LiFi model number PT-50LCZ70. Have red lamp light flashing on front 2 times. Have tried to turn it on and get no picture and no sound at all. I checked and the fan is running. What now?

After the red 2 flashing starts, press the power button on the front of the TV and hold pressed down for ten seconds.
You will hear a faint click comming from the back of set.
After 10 sec release the button and wait 10 more seconds then press the start button and release right away.
The green light flashes and the bulb attempts to start.
I found my picture will turn on on the third attempt of the bulb restarting.

When you do this and the room is dark you can see the bulb attempt to restart, My bulb has restarted on the third restart every time.

(note: The three start attempt happen after I do the button pressing
1 time and I do not need further button pressing restarts.

I think panasonic needs to let us know what the problem is.

I called Panasonic and they told me to plug it into a wall plug by itself.

I have it plugged into a multi plug adaptor now and have not tried this yet.
