Question about Samsung DVD-V4600 DVD Player/VCR

1 Answer

Samsung DVD V9700

Just bought a VCR/DVD combo for the den's Samung Flat panel tv. Hooked up the unit exactly as the manual says, cables out from the STB to the VCR, cables from VCR to back of the TV, and nothing. No image from the VCR.
WHen we use an old Phillips Modulator in between, at least we can get a VCR image, but after about five minutes, the image keeps switching from TV to VCR.

How do I hook up the DVD/VCR to cable box and Vizio HDTV?

both should be hooked directly to tv

VCR side of combo should be hooked up with composite video(yellow, red, white wires) to video 1 input

DVD side of combo should be hooked up component video (red, blue, green wires and red white for sound)

cable box should be hooked up HDMI or component to TV if HD or composite video if SD

hope this helps

good luck

I have my Samsung model dvd V9800 hooked up to my RCA RT2906. The dvd side is showing a picture but the video side is not. The RCA RT2906 has have a hook up for a vcr player by it's self but I do not think...

VCR video signal wont come out from Component Video Out of combo unit, it is low resolution signal so you need to hook yellow-red-white video cable in tv for VCR output.
Make sure to select VCR as source in combo while playback of VHS tape and select DVD as source when playing dvd disc in combo.
Hope these info will help you.
Let me know if you have additional question.

The VHS tapes will not playback on the Samsung TV (flat screen)..the Samsung TV is a Syncmaster 2333 HD...the Samsung dvd/vhs unit is a DVD-V9800 The DVD discs will play just fine. How should I be...

On these combo units, the VCR will not play using component cables but the dvd's will play just fine.

What you need to do is run a pair of composite (Yellow, red and white) cables and use that for VCR and component (Green, blue, red, white and red) for the dvd player.

Make sure you switch the tv to the corresponding input.

Would like to record from my tv to my magnavox dvd/vcr combo box

If I understand your request right, You do not have cable or satellite box.
You can not record from your TV. You use the TV as a monitor from the dvd/vcr combo box. What the box receives is what shows on the TV. So you will have to have a digital convertor hooked to the (antenna in) dvd/vcr combo box, (antenna out to the tv antenna in) Depending on the antenna you are using that is on the other end of your cable-in coax connection this will hook to your antenna in on the digital convertor box. If your cable is hooked up and operating correctly and directly to the tv that is digital ready you probabbly have a good picture. When the vhf/uhf signal was transmitted you could go from the dvd/vcr to the tv with no problem. But now that the signal is digital and the tv is set for digital the dvd/vcr will not pass a digital signal to the tv. Best suggestion, you have to get a digital dvd/vcr receiver. If you have more question please contact me.

I must replace my broken Samsung DVD-VR330, which is broken, with a comparable model through Here are the apparent choices: DVD-375A, DVD-V9700, and Multiformat DVD Recorder & VCR COMBO....

I recommend to go for DVD-375A as it is newer and can play MPEG4 · DivX · JPEG also. Newer models are likely to have more support from manufacturer. The other model (DVD-V9700) may cost less but has less functions and is discontinued (according to cnet). If you buy the newer model then you might be able to use it longer as new products come out meaning to be future safe.

Poor viewing with VCR

how do you have the combo connection and dish network hooked to the tv ? if you have an s-video , yellow RCA jack video or component video hooked to the same input then it will act this way, because two inputs cannot be on the same video input # on the tv.
is this what is happening? or how are you connecting it?

Magnavox dv225mg9 dvd/vcr player. Hooked it up to TV/Cable receiver/combo and I get great dvd reception sound and picture, but on the vcr I get only sound

I had the same issue. You probably have your unit connected with the newer cables that are red, blue and green. These are more sophisticated and offer better quality for the DVD portion. However, they will not carry the video for the VCR, only the audio.
You need to connect a *yellow* Video Out cable from your DVD/VCR to the Video In on your TV, this should carry the video for the VCR! Hope this helps!
