Question about Printers & Copiers

1 Answer

.CHM files Just bought a new printer and can't open the manual which has loaded OK from CD. Problem is that Windows XP will not allow the opening of the file as it is a .CHM file and the last MS security update has blocked these from being opened as they are regarded as a security risk. Canon are unable/unwilling to offer a printed version of the manual or a solution to my problem.

Sir i have another problem , I have HP 210-1033tu when i got the machine it have windows XP home edition installed , right now i dont have any recovery backup and my machine crashed, i have tried many...

MAny programs that "require" windows XP to install, can be told by windows7 that they are being installed in XP by installing them in a XP compatibility mode.

Open up Computer, and choose the C drive
If it prompts you with a security warning, tell it to open it anyways.
Create a new folder on the C drive (if you were trying to install Corel Draw for example, make a folder called Corel CD)
Open computer again and right click the CD drive, and select open.
Re-size/move this window so that you can still see the C:\corelCD folder (for example)
single click any file or folder in the CD's main folder, and press CTRL-A then CTRL-C
Click anywhere in the new folder you created (ie, c:\corelCD) and press CTRL-V
once all the files are copied, single click the SETUP or INSTALL icon (Ususally Setup.exe)
right click and choose properties
Click the Compatibility tab at the top, and choose compatibility for XP Service Pack 3
also choose run as administrator.
Click OK
Now double click the setup.exe and it should install under windows7 without issues

Before HP had win7 drivers for many of our printers, that was the unofficial fix to install the print driver from the CD to win7.
Later downloads were offered off the website that didn't have this issue - but when a lot of those failed, it was back to "here's how to install the original XP driver" as a solution!
Good Luck!

Cant download VersaJette M300 without disk

M300 Vista Driver Image (ISO CD must be made)

There are two ways to use the .ISO file: 1. To burn the .ISO file to any CD/DVD use a CD/DVD burning software like Nero, Roxio etc. Then run the CD/DVD to install drivers. or 2. Use a Virtual CD/DVD Drive Software which will allow you to use the .ISO file without burning it to a CD/DVD ROM. This software will create a Virtual CD/DVD drive which can open the .ISO file and let you use it just like a regular CD. Here is a list of some Virtual CD Software titles available: 1. Microsoft Virtual CD Drive Tool Free from Microsoft 2. ISO Buster 3. Deamon Tools 4. Undisker can open and install ISO files-free trial period

Error message Imagecache.ic not accessed. Software: CDLabel Print

The Canon Programm "CD-Label Print" has issues with Windows 7.

I solved it this way:

  1. Find the "CDLabelPrint.exe"most likely under "C:\Program Files\CD-LabelPrint"
  2. Right-Click on the File and choose Properties
  3. Select "Compatibility" and tick "Run Program ... Windows XP (SP3)"
  4. Push "OK"
  5. You should be fine now
See Picture for Details.

Olympus P440 Dose not work on Vista

The driver for the P-440 printer will work in Windows Vista. To install it you will need to run it in Windows compatibility mode XP service pack 2. Download the P-440 driver to your desktop from the website. Open the zip file, right click the mouse on the setup.exe file then left click on Properties. There will be a compatibility tab there. Select XP Service pack 2 and then click Ok. Connect the printer and as it goes through the found new hardware wizard direct to the folder location on your desktop for the files it needs to load the device driver.

XP refuses to restart after installing printer

It’s not uncommon for software to mess up during installation.
Or even have a bad CD. (Please make sure you're windows XP software is up to date, run windows update service).
Since you are able to get into windows, open control panel, open add/remove programs & uninstall the Lexmark printer software. After uninstall restart the PC. Power on the printer before windows loads. See if windows runs with the printer connected & powered on. Less Its driver software. Windows should see the printer & ask for the software. (If so, it may be corrupted software). Go to Lexmark for driver software & download it.
Try reinstalling using the online driver software for the X3550 printer. If it still stops you're windows, I would suggest replacing the USB cable. If replacing the cable does not help & windows does not load, there could be something wrong with the printer.
If this is a new printer you should contact Lexmark.
Lexmark will suggest all of the above. You'll be three steps ahead of support. Lastly, I have come across an issue from time to time installing printers software into Windows XP systems.
(It matters not the printer model). Windows was missing basic printer files needed to operate any given printer. The fix for those systems was a complete fresh install of windows. Its suggested to never use a copied windows CD. It matters.

Good Luck electrics!
If I can help you further, feel free to post.
There is rarely 1 way to fix every thing.
