Question about The Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Aficio sp240dn blackout. Does Anybody know which is the problem? Which component could i change on the power unit?

The display showed a blinking sc670 error (power unit or engine fault) then faded down. Blackout. Now, switching on the power, the power unit buzzes alternately, like working in a protection mode (some short cirquit? The fuse is ok).

thanks JonSnell, i misured the impedance: both 8ohm, so they are ok, as you imagined.
My next step is, as you suggest, to misure the output. i think, at this point, the fault could be the pricipal converter.

Firstly you will need to fault find this power supply, then the faulty components will be obvious.
There is no 'stock fault' repair.

Working on power supplies is a skilled job and safety is foremost. Take it to a TV repair shop, they may be able to fix it for you.

Thanks a lot. I need suggestions. I could take the copyer to a technician too. Not helpful.

You have not got the training or expertise to carry out a repair on a power supply that is a safety item and dangerous to work on. Replace the power supply.

All I am willing to suggest is that a diode on the cold side of the transformer may be short circuit. Check the diodes.

I had already repaired high voltage units. But i haven't ever fault find an Electronic power unit. Thanks a lot :)

  • Kirk Jun 16, 2018

I checked all the diodes. Ok. There are two thermistores 8ohm which make buzz the tester.
    Are they fused?

They sound OK as they are low resistance when cold and high resistance when hot. Do you get 24v from the output without the unit plugged into the copier? if you do, look elsewhere for your fault on the copier itself.

The switching transistor, if not working, normally goes short circuit with a spectacular display of damaged components around it. Otherwise, no drive to the output FET maybe.

The main fuse is close to where the cord plugs into the machine. You can follow the wires, (black white and green) to an inline fuse or the main power board.

Most fuser problems have to do with the fuser lamp and or the thermistor, or the thermal fuse. If you can put you hand near, and I did say near, because the fuser is very hot and can burn you, you should feel heat. Use an inferred thermometer to pick up heat. Should be around 225 degrees F +- a few degrees. If no heat detected the lamp is bad or is not receiving voltage. The thermistor detects heat from the fuser roller, it lays on it, and sends a signal to the logic to turn up the voltage to the lamp or turn it down. The thermal fuse could be open hence not voltage to the lamp. Last but not least no power from power supply or no signal from logic board to turn up the juice. Hope that helps.

Got an alpine cda 9855 the screen keeps goin black but if you touch the button it comes back on it has like a 5 sec delay then it goes black but still plays any help

Blackout Display Mode: When the Blackout mode is activated, the display turns off to reduce power consumption. The additional power made available by turning off the display helps enhance sound quality. If a button is pressed during the Blackout mode, the display will illuminate for 5 seconds before blacking out again. Blackout Mode On and Off (CDA-9855 only) When Blackout mode is turned on, the display will turn off to reduce power consumption. This additional power enhances the sound quality. Press and hold FUNC. for at least 2 seconds to activate the blackout mode. The display will turn off. If any button on the unit is pressed during the blackout mode, the function will be displayed for 5 seconds to show the operation before returning to Blackout mode. To cancel Blackout mode, press and hold FUNC. for at least 2 seconds.
Copied from the alpine user manual..
Hope this helps

Periodic tv screen blackouts

The problem is your cable box. I know you said you replaced it, but I work on TV's everyday and, sorry to say this but cable box HDMI outputs have serious issues, like no or intermittent sound and video. I have seen customers exchange their cable boxes 5 and 6 times and still have the problem. Your best bet is to use the component outputs of your cable box, visually you will not see a picture difference between component and HDMI when using a cable box. Your other solution is to get satellite; I have NEVER seen an HDMI issue with a satellite box
