I installed windows XP on my laptop but the touchpad did not work, I removed it and installed Win 98 back but my touchpad still does not work, occasionally after about every 10 restarts it will work, Any ideas?

WizSounds like the cable is not securely connected to the motherboard.
I would doubt the OS is responsible for this problem.
Nice little machine, the service manual is available for download for free. Might give a shot at refastening the cable.
If you're not that enthusiastic about taking a laptop apart, possibly an external mouse?
Put XP back on. If you have enough memory, it runs just fine.
