Question about Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

We have two remotes for our Cool Start remote start and door lock unit. They are installed on a 1994 Ford F-150 and worked fine for about 2 or 3 years. Recently it quit working. Neither remote will activate either function. The battery is good in the remote, the blue light lights up, and the fuse on the truck is ok. I've tried both position of the switch on the side of the remote. Any ideas? Dan

Thank you. We were not given a manual. I tried to find a local dealer via Google and not only didn't find a dealer; but couldn't find "the Cool Start people". Do you know how I get in touch with them?
    Thanks,
    Dan

Thank you. I think this will be helpful; but won't know until tomorrow or next day when I try the tricks you suggested.

The light may be flashing but I would think that somewhere along the line the code has dropped out of the remote. If you know the codes use the set and renter the code and try again. These codes are usually in the service manual and are entered on the console via one of the accessories If they are the hard wired type you may need to acquire a new remote unit for that model. The coolstart people can help you reprogram it with a new code anyway.

heres a couple of places you might want to check out.
    http://www.crimestopper.com/techweb/Inst...

The above has some reprogramming instructions as well as wiring diagrams etc

I think www.autotoys.com might be a good place to start if you dont get satisfaction from reading the above manual

2006 ford f-150 truck has a coolstart remote , doors lock, and unlock with remote but engine does not start

It may be the Security module. The "cold start" routine is necessary to make the engine run cold. When you are already inside the vehicle and turning the ignition switch it is not using the "wireless" feature of the FOB's. The ignition switch is hard wired to the vehicle module and would be sending the signal through a wired connection. For the warm start, the "cold start" sequence is not needed and all this proves is you have spark and fuel. Many engines are running too lean to start without the "cold start" sequence. Another remote possibility is a stuck temperature sensor is keeping the cold start off, but that does not explain the truck starting with a key.

I have a cool start remote starter... on the remote starter the blue light goes on when i press the start button, unlock, or lock button....so i kno the battery isnt dead. but it just wont work. my freidn...

The starter need a lot more charge to crank the engine then lights, door lock and other auxiliary equipment. So it could be a battery. Try jump wire your car. If this does not help - check the starter relay in the relay box of engine compartment.

Im instaling a remote start alarm on my 1999 ford f 150 how do i bipass the anti theft and i do not want to carry 2 remotes around

The 2 Key fob part, is to get a remote start that also has the RKE ( Remote Keyless Entry ) function. The the RMST / RKE system is installed, the RMST fob would be able to operate the door locks ( you can put the factory RKE fobs in the drawer )

the PATS ( Passive AntiTheft System ) part is to get a PATS bypass module for the remote start. The remote start that you purchase needs to be able to activate this prior to starting the truck ( usually pulse / signal outputs, most mfgr of RMST have these ).

There are a few PATS bypass modules, I have only used the Ford branded one ( which I think is also made by CodeAlarm, not 100% sure ).

Why not just get the factory PATS System working correctly. You can't remove the factory system,it's an integral part of you vehicles systems and processors

You can get new remotes and program them!!

Bulldog Security makes a Very Unexpensive system that you can Install and fix this Problem. Just go to BulldogSecurity.com and find one for your Ford Or Wal-Mart carries these to. I put Remote Start with Remote Doors, Windows, and Extra's on my 95' Silverado, WORKS GREAT!!!
