Hi, sorry it took so long for a follow up post. Originally I was told by a repair man that my Panasonic needed a new light engine, at a cost of about 1500 dollars, this was only 600 dollars less than what I paid for the tv brand new in 2005 from Circuit City. After calling Circuit City to complain, it was found that I had purchased a three year service plan when I bought the tv. When the Service tech from Circuit City came out, he told me he would return in a few days, to my surprise the problem was not the light engine as previously diagnosed. The service tech explained to me that these televisions have a hard drive comparable to a PC and that the problem was a software issue. After connecting his laptop, the problem was corrected in about 20 min. Kind of made me feel like the first service guy was inexperienced with this model of tv, or just trying to get over on me. Thanks Frigop

This is a LCD projection TV and will need to have the light engine replaced. Hopefully you have a warranty on it or it is still covered by Panasonic.

Green spots on screen, panasonic Pt52LCX65 52inch rear projection

There is a software correction tool that is connected to a plug inside the set that may fix this problem. An authorized panasonic service shop should have this device. During the repair the tech is to call Panasonic tech line and indicate that he is removing fuzzy spots and they will give him a number that auth the repair and panasinic I think is paying for it.

Light green and pink spots on my hd tv!!!

Hi--Bought my panasonic pt-52lcx65 on sale for $2200 in 8/05. Replaced the lamp for about $300 in 1/08, just prior to Superbowl. Admittedly, this was to be expected after family members watched lots of tv over 30 months. However, two months later the blue spot emerged in 3/08, and red spot emerged 5/08. Set looks decorated by a Andy Warhol or Van Gogh wannabe. I'm looking for a fix it solution. Dr. Bob Heiliger, Lebanon, OH.

Check with Panasonic. I have the same issue and was originally told that the optic board needed to be replaced ($1700). I waivered on getting it fixed and spending more than the tv is worth. So I now learned that there is a new fix for the bad optic board and Panasonic is repairing it free of charge. Repair is schedueled for next Friday (Feb 1, 08). I'll report back if it was successful. This repair involes an eprom on the optic board. Hope the sheds new light........
