The AC unit is not level. the ac should sit level front to back... if it is leaning into the room even at the tinyest pitch, the water will run into the room. the ac should NOT be tilted backwards either, they need to sit level. take it out, and put it back in...

My air is driping water inside

That's condensation; it's the humidity begin removed from your room. It's totally normal and you actually want it. Just make sure to tip the AC a little downward on the outside so that it can drip outside.

I have a gold star air conditioner. I have heard that these air conditioners draw water from the air like a de-humidifier. Mine does not seem to do that. I h ave had it for two years.

All air conditioners act somewhat like a dehumidifier. They take in room air, cool it and send it back out. During this process, part of the humidity goes into the condensation pan under the AC unit and is drained away. That's part of how they produce cold air. It's not as efficient as a separate dehumidifier, but it helps a little.

Hope this helped to answer your question. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

My gold star ac is staying hot

I am not aware of the age of your AC but presume that you have to get the compressor checked for the start up current, the pumping, check for gas leak .You could start by cleaning the filters for clogging, the condensers by pressure water spraying. If still there is no result then our indication will point to the compressor assmbly. if compressor capacitor is faulty replace. Get help to test and give you an estimate, go forward only if reasonable and guaranteed.'Hope my advice helps you. Good Day

I have an older unit need to know what the top knob does

One of the knobs controls fan speeds, cooling speeds and an off position. Center knob controls temperature and bottom knob more than likely controls air exchange. As for the front cover it would depend on the units age as to if it would be available.
