Nuvi 350 blown speaker

Hi, my Garmin 350 speaker has gone dead. When I tap it, it comes back on all distorted and scratchy and then dies out again. The audio is ok when I use the headphone jack. Does anyone know how to replace the speaker?

I also have a second Nuvi 350 unit, but with US maps. Is there a way to transfer my Europe maps on to that unit and use that instead?

Re: Nuvi 350 blown speaker

When you tap the GPS it is probably doing one of two things:

1. The tapping is temporarily reconnecting the broken voice coil in the speaker (speaker will need to be replaced)

2. The tapping is temporarily reconnecting a bad solder joint from the GPS motherboard to the speaker. (The solder joint will need to be resoldered)

You can either send the unit back for repair or purchase a FM modulator and retrieve the audio through your FM car stereo.

You can purchase an external FM modulator like those used on IPODS and CD players. I am using one on my Nuvi 350 and it works well. Just plug it into the headphone jack. Advice: Be sure to buy one that is crystal (PLL) controlled and NOT using a tuning dial. The FM modulators that use a tuning dial often tend to drift and they will also change frequency when you hit a bump in the road.
If you decide to send it back for repair, be sure to have your serial number handy. Register it online
if you haven't already done so.

Re: Nuvi 350 blown speaker

My Nuvi 350 speaker died after 2 days use so I returned it to the store and got a new one. It has been two days and this one is going bad as well. : - ( I contacted Garmin and they said I could return it to them but I think I will try and get my money back at the store and buy a 660 with the FM transmitter.

I just bought my first GPS, the Garmin Nuvi 255WT. It is a basic model but gets me where I need to go and I'm happy. However I'm concerned about the voice distortion. When on the freeway I need the thing...

Although yours is a wide screen device, as the GPS devices getting smaller the sound is getting crappier. Larger units of the old days like C330 had much better sound than the smaller Nuvi series because they had more resonant cavity for the speaker which increases acoustical efficiency of the speaker...

I can not imagine a brand new Garmin GPS having defective speaker... So unfortunately, you need to lower your expectations. Unfortunately, this particular GPS doesn't have external Audio connectivity for considering to connect the GPS to your car stereo, for better sound.

I am hard of hearing. Which GPS brand seems to have the best quality speakers? I would like it to be both load and distortion free.

I have the garmin 250W and the sound is excellent. I have to turn it down to 50% volume because I find it is too loud even for me.

I have garmin vuvi 350 , its voice has stopped . i have checked all posssible setting, but no result. i am living in Mississauga, On canada. i need immediate help

Do you have other sound like the touch screen beeps? MP3 audio ok? If no, try using a set of headphones in the headphone jack. If you hear sound ok there, then your internal speaker is bad.

Street pilot is dead

It took a nap...

Waking up your c330...

If you left your Garmin c330 on running the battery will have 1% life left. If you turn c330 back on again, it will flash screen for 3 seconds then die, even charging it at this point will not wake it back up. TO BRING IT BACK TO LIFE... plug in the power home or car into Garmin c330. There is a tab in the front Garmin gray frame of your screen. You must take like your fingernails and under the logo "GARMIN" pull the whole gray plastic frame off. Underneath the plastic frame to the right hand side. There is a "RESET" button. Make sure power is plugged in while hitting reset. Your battery should come back to life. Cheers

Garmins Nuvi 350 - voice interactive lost

I have the same problem with my Nuvi 350. It's only about 2 months old and the sound went. I turned it on the other day to use it and the sound did not sound right, it sounded like the speaker was blown. I turned it off and turned it back on and that was it, the sound was gone. I did everything possible and can't get the sound to come back. I called Garmin and now I have to send it in for repair. I looked around the web and noticed that Garmins have big issues with the sound going on the units. I hope they fix that issue.

Sorry to say the LCD display is cracked. You can find a replacement LCD display with tools on eBay but they are kind of pricey.

You might try finding one for sale that has an antenna problem or is completely that had a known working display at the time it died.

If you send it back to Garmin, it will cost you almost the same as a new one if your unit is out of warranty.

Good luck!

Garmin 360

Have you tried performing a soft reset by pressing the reset button on the back of the unit, then turning it on again?

How about a hard reset?

With the unit powered off, hold your finger on the upper right- hand corner of the touch screen and tap the power key. Continue to hold your finger on the screen until you get a warning message. Tap "OK" to reboot the GPS.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!

Audio problems

1. Make sure battery is charged. Go to Step #2.
2. Press reset button and try it again. If still bad, go to step #3.
3. Try using headphones.

By using the headphones, you are bypassing the internal speakers, which might have failed. If the sound is still missing, the mostly like problem is a defective audio output stage on the motherboard.

Since this unit uses surface mount technology it will have to be sent back to the manufacturer for repair.

If the sound works with the headphones, the speakers have failed. I have seen several postings of speakers failing in the Nuvi 350.
In either case, you will need to send the unit back for repair. Be sure to have your serial number handy. Register it online
if you haven't already done so.
