Question about Computers & Internet
The ethernet connection shows a green light (led) on the modem. There is a solid orange light (led) on the lower side at the computer connection and an upper light that flashes yellow/orange on occassion. I have reset the modem, changed cable ends, changed cables. The computer test say that the Intel 82562V 10/100 Network connections is operating properly. All of the lights are green on the '2WIRE' modem. What is there to do???????????????
Are all your connections in the appropriate place? Did you press and hold the re-set button on your router for 40 seconds and wait until all the lights are green on your router?

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Ok, thank you for clarifying.
It seems like the settings on the 1707 have been reset.
On this modem, while connected, type "homeportal.2wire.net" without the quotes.
If not, comment back.

SOURCE: Intermittent DSL connection
hi, i happen to be one of the technical support agent of this dsl modem/router..it's very simple...there are a lot of factors that may cause the intermittent connection...one could be the filter if it's hard wired, or EMI's... or defective ethernet cable...however, if it's wirelessly connected to the computer...there could be problem like slow browse, no browse or no connection at all if there's a wrong configuration of the modem...

They shouldn't become solid. Most lights blink when there is a communication between the devices. It's never a solid connection light.

I had the same problem on the Gateway 2701HG-B supplied from ATT for
use with their DSL service. From searching the web, I learned these
modems apparently have an expiration date on the power cord at about 18
mos to 2 years. Mine is almost exactly at 2 yrs.
I replaced the power cord and now it works fine. You can order the OEM replacement from att e-store or try Radio Shack for a universal cord.
