Hi,

The power button flashing amber suggests that there is an internal power problem.

If you can handle such repairs, open the PC cabinet to check all the connectors on the system board. There might be some connector which has become loose.
Also, let us know if the PC gives out any beep sounds and whether you have made any hardware/software changes recently.
Hope this solves your problem. For more help and clarifications please reply to this post. Thanks.

Just remove the battery for few hours like 4-5 hours and then try to start using direct supply from adapter. If it works well and good else connect the battery again to see...This should do the trick...if none of this solution work then please contact local computer service to find the faulty hardware and its replace it...........Thanks.

You can try to reseat the CPU (processor) chip. Inorder to do that you have to remove the heatsink and then reapply thermal paste (compound) to the surface of processor. The processor rarely goes bad.

Vaughn it sounds like the power supply is going bad, try another known good working power supply. If that doesn't work then the motherboard would need to be replaced. If the power supply isn't giving the correct voltages that could cause the computer not to turn on. If the motheboard isn't able to convert the voltages properly then the motherboard could be faulty.

Dell Dimension 5150 automatically turns off

That flashing amber light is usually a sign the power supply is failed or is failing. I would suspect the power supply is the problem in yours. It is the better of the two problems connected with the flashing amber light..the other is motherboard is failing. Arrrr!
hope this helps (it takes a standard- oh say 350 watt 20-24 pin power supply unit.)
Hope an answer helps.
Please leave rating, thankyou

No display and wont boot

A Blinking Amber or Yellow power button means that the power supply is receiving power from the source but is unable to properly distribute it to the components. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Power supply is easier and cheaper to replace.

Is the amber light flashing on the monitor?

If so, you should get your power supply checked.
