You need to have the fan in the check,possibly its not working anylonger

Radio Shack has an
adapter catalog number 278-0291. It takes some effort to push the 278-0291
adapter onto the FM UNBL 75 ohm terminal so wait until you have the 278-0291
installed before you connect your 75 ohm coax on to your new adapter.

This will resolve your FM screw on F connector antenna interface issue.


I see others trying to
help suggest using a 300 ohm to 75 ohm transformer match unit, this isn't what is needed. Your receiver antenna input IS a 75
ohm input.

You probably have bad solder connections on the printed circuit board, check the speaker wires on the back for possible shorts. If the tuner is additional problem it is much more difficult to repair and would require a service manual with the proper test equipment.

Is the LED on the front of the subwoofer unit glowing?
If not then check that (a) the plugs are correctly inserted in the two sockets on the back of the the mhc-gx450, and (b) check that the subwoofer is activated on the mhc-gx450 unit.

I'm sorry for the difficulties you're experiencing in connecting the speakers to the Mini Hi-Fi System. Please see the below picture to view the connections.

Did you get a manual with it? According to the Sony site this speaker originates in Sony MHC-GX450.

As can be seen, the subwoofer has two connections to the mothership, very unlike the standard speaker level (+/-) speaker wire or RCA-Line-Level subwoofer out that 'normal passive or active subwoofers use, respectively.

Not knowing which of those your unspecified Pioneer receiver supports, it is impossible to say. Does your Pioneer have that control jack?

Mini-systems are generally not designed to be pieced out and used with grown-up gear. The absence of standardized connections is the clue.
