My nephew has a Hayward H100ID1 pool heaterThe problem is

My nephew has a Hayward H100ID1 The problem is somtimes when you turn the t-stat on it fires and works fine.Other times it will fire and then when it calls for heat again you'll hear the click and then it will not fire. I did a continuity test on the t-stat and it seemed fine. Could it be the ignition module. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance. PS: I should mention I'm a retired NYS License#223 electrician.

I need to know what hold the thermastat in place in the heat exchanger?

In many heaters, nothing does, it just inserts into the tube in the exchanger. The t-stat does not come in direct contact with the water.

first be sure your water filter is clean and the pressure gauge works.....you may need to bleed the gas line to get fresh gas to the unit, you can use soapy water to check, that the fitting leak free, after bleeding at the block

How to winterize the h100id1 hayward pool heater

Make sure that you drain all of the water out of the pool heater to prevent damage during freezing weather. That is the most important thing you can do to winterize pool heaters. If you have a cover, you might want to use it to prevent weather related exposure, but as long as you have the water out, you will be ok.
