Question about Canon Rebel XT / EOS 350D Digital Camera

1 Answer

I've ordered the above camera and 17-851S lense from Curries (£960). The store called me to advise that the camera had now come in, and that teh box had been opened by mistake, and the camera removed and put in teh display case for a matter od seconds.

Should I still accept this camera ?
Is there a risk that it has been compromised by this action ?

Thanks in advance.

I think you are well within your rights to refuse to accept anything short of a box packed cam. It also depends on what the product and condition of product on sale was. Anything falling short of that can be refused. I would refuse it, if on no other grounds but to hold up my rights.

I bought an 18 megapixel d60, is there a new 20 megapixel d60 in the market,,if there is, do i need to buy a newer d60 just to increase its megapixel

There would be almost no noticeable difference between an 18 megapixel camera and a 20 megapixel camera. Personally, I would look for a camera with a fast shutter speed and a high Optical Zoom.

The Canon EOS D60 is a discontinued 6.3 megapixel digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera.

The Canon EOS 40D is a 10.1 megapixel digital single lens reflex camera.

The Canon EOS 1D Mark III is a 21.1 megapixel digital single lens reflex camera, and is the first to break the 20 megapixel barrier.

Is the canon eos 40d,the same as the canon 40d,if not whats the difference, can you answer please

They are the same thing. There is only one Canon EOS 40D. If you've seen it listed differently it's just that they've left out the EOS prefix. All Canon DSLR cameras are named EOS.

Soft digital images/ not sharp

Wow... Yes it can be fixed but only by a professional tech. You have either slightly shifter the reflector or damaged the sensor. There is also a possibility that you have loosened the auto focus as well. It may be just a simple adjustment. If it becomes too expensive of a fix I REALLY suggest an upgrade to a 40d. They are now affordable and there is a significant improvement in the models. You lenses are also compatible.

Cannon lenses

All canon EF lenses (and compatibles e.g. Sigma EX) can be used with both analog and digital  EOS-bodies. Depending on the sensor size (usually smaller than a 35 mm negative) a crop-factor due to the smaller field of view must be considered.  Example: Canon EF 50mm/1.8 lens used on a digital EOS (40D, crop factor 1.6) equals a 80mm lens (50mm x 1.6) compared to analog cameras using 35mm film. Some digital EOS-models can also use EF-S lens-series.

Canon digital camera

Hey jpmodell,
Whether or not you can use your old lenses on a new DSLR body depends on how old your lenses are and what model lenses they are. Modern Canon DSLR cameras use what is called the EF mount which was introduced by Canon in 1987. Canon lenses prior to 1987 have what is called the FD mount which will not directly mount onto new digital cameras. Some companies do make an adapter to allow the user to mount an FD lens onto an EF mount camera but it would provide very limited functionality. I hope this helps!
