If the unit is oversized it will do that or if you are constantly opening and closing the door letting moisture back in

My Haier 7000BTU portable AC unit is blowing hot air into the room from the back. We have the drain hose in and draining, so what might be the problem?

The drain hose is only to be used when the unit is in Dehumidifier Mode. In AC/Cooling Mode, there needs to be water in the tank to keep the coils cool. It is not recommended to use continuous drainage in AC Mode. My personal recommendation is do not operate Cooling Mode & Dehumidify Mode at the same time. As the dehumidify mode generates heat. Not something you need to be doing when you're trying to cool the room.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Eugene, first, let me say, yours is one of the best narratives, of what is happening with your ,that I have read in a long time. You didn't leave me guessing as to what was going on.

I believe one of the problems is that you may be operating the AC Cooling & the Dehumidifier at the same time. If this is the case, the dehumidifier is generating heat, when it's operating and the AC cooling side is working at a lower rate, because the dehumidifier is in operation. Discontinue the use of the dehumidifier on extremely hot days and use only the AC Cooling mode. The AC mode also acts somewhat as a dehumidifier. That's why draining the water tank is required for AC mode too.

I would also be prudent to check the exhaust hoses to make sure they are not clogged or have been bent out of shape. Keeping the air intake filter clean is really important, too.

Aside from the air conditioner, other things can be done to help cool the room. Close all drapes or blinds to block the sun from directly heating the room. This is especially true, if the AC unit is sitting in direct sunlight. If you have a ceiling fan, operate it it as fast as you can stand, in a Clockwise direction. This not only keeps air moving, it also helps the AC unit and creates a windchill, that fools your body into thinking it's cooler than it really is. Personally, I have been doing this for years and have saved a ton of money on electric bills during the summer.

I hope I have been able to help you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have a new Whirlpool AC model ACQ 128 GPW. It does a super job of cooling but what is the best way to dehumidify without using the cooling system or is this a very poor way to dehumidify? You have...

Dale, my best advice is do not operate the cooling function and the dehumidifier at the same time. The dehumidifier will generate heat, which will cause the AC to have to work harder. It's best to operate them separately. Besides, the AC works somewhat like a dehumidifier, so it's extracting some moisture anyway.

Hope this helped you Dale. Thanks for choosing FixYa, again.

AC is New Air model ACP 1000 E The unit fills up every 5 hours. Is there a way to run the AC without the dehumidifier? The setting is currently on the snowflake.

Hi,
No, a byproduct of cooling the air is condensation....or dehumidification... so in short.. if you want to cool the air you will also dehumidify it...

Air conditioners remove the moisture from the air, and so does a dehumidifier. Does running a dehumidifier make the air conditioner run less? Does running the small dehumidifier save energy in that the...

a dehumidifier is basically the same thing as an air conditioner but both coils (condenser and evaporator) are in the same unit meaning a dehumidifier exhaust warm air in the same room it is in. running a dehumidifier would make an air conditioner run more because of the warm exhaust, but you are correct, when you run an air conditioner it acts like a dehumidifier and dries the air. as far as saving energy it all depends on the size of the AC and dehumidifier and the size of the room. If you want warm dry air use a dehumidifier if you want cool dry air run the AC but not both.

Our de-humidifier is running cool but there is no water in the bucket, should there be?

Is it warm outside, and do you have your A.C. on? Dehumidifiers ,just like A.C. systems, remove humidity. If the weather is cold, put an open gallon of water in front of your unit and let it run a day or so. If the bucket gets water in it, and the container of water goes down, then the unit is working.

These are somewhat related to cooling systems so the system may need a coolant recharge like any AC. Check your user guide to see if there is any mention of a need for recharging.

What is the function of dry mode in ac, when to use dry mode, and when to use cool mode and what about heat mode.

Dry Mode in AC is to dehumidify the room the fan cycles on and off and the indoor unit temperature drops below freezing which causes condensate to collect on the coil and as a result the humidity level of the indoor air is reduced

My rooftop Trane A/C unit shows high humidity on the thermostat, will not cool the house during the day but cools fine at night. What could the problem be? Also, how can I lower the humidity in the house?

High humidity causes Icing of the cooling coils. Avoid constant running of the a/c. Meaning let the AC pull the house dow 2 - 3 degrees at a time.. The unit shutting off will allow the ice to melt. Make sure the drain is clear by going outside and chkg for drainage. Once the house is reasonably dehumidified the ac can be set and left on its own.
