If the display language is Japanese - what do you do to changeit to English? ... Same problem that others ...
I have compared its instruction manual in English and Japanese versions and found that the language setting part is absent in Japanese version. So that the japanese version will support only japanese.
I have asked the seller in Bic Camera shop (in Japan) and he tried to change the language in the menu, but unfortunately he could't find and change it.
I am assuming, that it is presently Japanese.
The only way to change all the languge is to install an English,(or other language),version of Windows.
You can replace the Japanese version, or add the English version as a second Windows.
The later will require double the memory space.
Here's the story with Windows XP... On a system running ENGLISH Windows XP (Professional ONLY), you can put a Multi-language User Interface (MUI in short) and make it localized. This action is reversible, means you can go back to English at any time or switch to another language. BUT, if the original Windows language is NOT English, you just can't switch the user interface to English.
How to check if it's original English version or not? - Go to Control Panel (a symbol of a notebook and a pen) -> Regional and Language Options (a symbol of a globe). Click on the Languages tab (the middle one). If there's a selection box at the button - you're in luck! Click it and change to English. Then accept and restart! In there's no selection box - I'm sorry but you'll have to format and install an English version of Windows XP - Home or Professional - whatever fits you best!
Hope I helped, Pelu.
PS: On laptops that ships with Windows pre-installed in a localized version (language), there's SOMETIMES an indicator to it on the license sticker at the bottom of the laptop.
Hi you need to reinstall the Japanese version of vista then download the full english language compatibility pack, then you can change from one language to another without losing any of your settings.
