Question about Hyundai L90D+ 19" LCD Monitor

Open Question

I have a Gateway LP2207 monitor. Last night it went blank. The monitor powers up. It has a touch menu along the side of the face and i can hear the sounds dinging when i touch them but no options appear on the screen. If i unplug the VGA cable and plug it back in i can see my desktop flash for about a second and i can see the VGA recognition box. But then it goes black again. Monitor does stay powered though. I dont have any other cables in the the house to check if the other ports work - but i did try another VGA cable with the same problem. Also if i turn the monitor on and off i do see the gateway splash. Forums seem to suggest that its the monitor power supply? but that doesnt make sense to me as it has power, just no picture.. Thanks in advance

SOURCE: flashes on then goes black

The green light only lets you know there is a valid video signal reaching the monitor. If the green light was not "on" your problems would possibly be within the pc itself. Something is not holding the circuit for the backlight "on" thus going black. Suggestions are: 1. Take it to get it repaired (if not under warranty) Hyundai carries a 3 yr warranty on this monitor. Website provided. 2. Buy a new monitor

SOURCE: monitor shows screen then goes black

It is the Monitor Cable connected to the CPU cabinet is faulty. Please check out the cable and its pin firmly.

Try to find the fault, may be the cable broken or tear up.

Let me know if further diagnose required.

Have a nice day.

SOURCE: Gateway LP2207 Monitor comes on with Gateway icon but will not stay on.

Its most likely the light capacitor it can easily be fixed but if your going to buy one anyway dont go back to gateway they offer poor technical support
by light capacitor i mean the capacitor giving power to the light

SOURCE: Gateway LP2207 Powers up to a bright white screen... nothing else

White screen is usually in the video input board. Once in a while it is in the lcd panel.
Does the power button turn on and off normally ? do you hear the gateway boot-up sound when it starts up ?
If you don’t have the startup sound when you plug it in, the main board may be bad.
If your picture was pinkish or dark at the top or bottom when it was working then you may have 1 or more of the bulbs failing.
If your picture wasn't pinkish or dark at the top or bottom when it was working, then it sounds like probably the inverter may have went. They are light light bulbs and have life expectancies on the capacitors.
To get to the inverter:
remove the stand
Take the 3 screws out of the bottom rear edge (these hold the front trim),and the 4 big black ones at the middle of the back
the the trim then unsnaps. {Be aware of the small ribbon to the power button board on the right edge} Start at the bottom and release the trim usually by gripping it on the lcd screen side with your fingertips and pulling outward, then work your way up each side from the back where the front trim meets the rear case. Work from the bottom to the top (a pocket knife or thin putty knife will help release the catches) You can also sharpen the edge of a credit card-(plastic is a little safer)
Then unsnap the top edge (rocking it while lifting helps)
Disconnect the ribbon, (Tiny latch lifts up on a hinge and ribbon slides out)
Once trim is off, remove the 4 corner screws that hold the screen in. Then the screen will lift out with all the guts. You may have to use a screwdriver like a crowbar in the corners to start the screen to lift up.
You’ll then have to remove a bunch of screws including the speaker ones and the usb board ones and unplug the bulbs and wire to the screen
then the inverter is under the center area under the metal cover
Shout if you need more info.
If you email me a good picture of the inverter , I may be able to get a better idea if it is the inverter from a visual.
Thanks Fran

How do i get the sound to turn off on the monitor when i turn it on?

Hello Janine

Of course, if your particular monitor provide sound, (integrated) or the monitor has speakers, you can.
but if in the HUD menu, or visually you wont see any speakers, I fear not.

Some monitors do not have speakers (my HP monitor does not). The sound has come out of some external speakers attached to the tower. Or maybe you need to access the monitors on-screen menu to turn the speakers on (if they have speakers). Or maybe you can access the monitor speaker control through the PCs Device Manager option (this is where all external components attache to the PC can be viewed, and sometimes changed).

Gateway LP2207 64 bit drivers

If you can't find the drivers anywhere else, do this: There is a UL Code listing on the back on the monitor's electrical ID tag on the back label. It has a number on it: UL (number). Go to the UL site and look up the number, it will tell you who actually made the monitor for Gateway. (Gateway doesn't
make monitors, it rebrands them.) Go to the mfr's site and download drivers for the monitor of the same size as yours using the 64 bit drivers. It will take a bit of slouthing, but can't be done successfully. (Ex. Sampo is actually Hitachi.)
