Question about Keurig B50 Coffee Maker
The Problem with my 2nd Keurig Platinum B70 (they replaced the first one) is that the descale notification comes on repeatedly, even though we use filtered water but descaled anyway three times in the last couple of weeks by going through 60 oz. of vinegar each time.
With no K-cup in the slot it works fine and water comes out at normal speed, but the minute we put a K-cup in, it brews slowly and only brews about 3 oz. When opening and closing the K-cup chamber and re-brewing with the same K-cup in, only gray water comes out (very weak.)
I have taken the K-cup holder and funnel apart and cleaned them and stuck a paper clip in the needle hole and it still won't brew a full cup of coffee, no matter what size is selected. Every time I descale it (which doesn't seem to help) it takes running three reservoir's full of water through the machine to get rid of the vinegar taste.
Eureka! I know I'm writing a book here, but I just used the reusable K-cup coffee filter (bought it on eBay) and it brews a full cup, so the problem must be in the K-up holder. Not very convenient so I plan to soak the holder in vinegar over-night then put it through the dishwasher. If that doesn't work, then I will buy another whole K-cup holder/funnel.
Doesn't sound like a descaler issue. I am having problems with mine and noticed that water is flowing back into the reservoir when it is pouring into the coffee cup. I think there is a valve that is not closing properly.

You need to a descaler other than vinegar. Vinegar is only a 5% solution at full strength, and it leaves a good after taste for about 2 weeks. Citric acid, 1 tablespoon per quart of water is the best and 1 rinse with no after taste. You can get it at wine making or candle making shops.
