Trying to create a server using the ASRock k7vt6 mobo

Hi, I'm trying to create a server using the ASRock k7vt6 motherboard, but I do not want to use the hardware RAID. However, that is a bit of a problem since the BIOS with only recognize and boot from my hard disk if the RAID is turned on. I no longer have the support CD, how can I configure the RAID/mobo to work with me?

Turns out the RAID enable in the bios is also used to enable the SATA. but this doesn't mean you have to use RAID to use SATA drives! there's a separate bios to configure the RAID that you can access after the initial boot screen by pressing tab. here, you can delete an existing array or create a new one. deleting the array makes the motherboard see both drives separately, like I wanted. problem solved :)

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

Hi!
According to your mob specs ( 2 x ATA 133/100/66 IDE connectors ( supports 4 x IDE devices)), it does not support Sata2; however, if you configured your HD to Sata1, then check your FSB and set it to 400MHZ.
Jumper Setting 400:FSB_SEL1 : 1_2 FSB_SEL2 : 2_3

I hope this helps; nontheless, I also hope you can exchange the HD to a regular Sata.

Hi, you can download a manual here:

http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?model=p4i65g

Your mainboard DOES NOT SUPPORT ECC RAM.
This ram type is ONLY intended for servers
or mainboards that are compatible for that ram type.

This is what your mainboard supports:

Dual Channel DDR memory technology
- 2 x DDR DIMM slots
- Supports DDR400/333/266 non-ECC, un-buffered memory
- Max. capacity of system memory: 2GB

Use only the asrock site when upgrading the bios.
And a bios upgrade does not supports the ecc ram anyway.

Hope this will help you.

Mobo power

Hi,
There are jumpers on the motherboard,
check all jumpers are set correctly, as from the user manual, this could be a problem.

check all your front lights are wired properly
power button, reset switch, must be correct too.
double/treble check them before building it.

Richard.

Graffics accelerator failure

Hi Carpeteddy,
The ASRock K7VT6 motherboard does not have a intergrated graphics card onboard. So your 1.5V, AGP8X / 4X card needs replaced. It wouldn't hurt to uninstall the AGP's driver software, reboot the system & re-install the software. Check the manufactures web site for updated driver software before replacing it.

Here is a link to an XFX 1.5v AGP card:

The good part of XFX is its warranted for life!

Good luck Carpeteddy!

MoBo turns off after booting

hey, this victor from kenya. Have you confirmed that the heatsink n coler fan is firmly attached to the motherboard? suc error is usually as aresult of non efficient cooing systems.
Also reapply the cooling compound. Use methylated spirit to clear tha old application on the surface of your processor.

If this 2 fail, confirm that you are using a compartible processor to the asrock motherboard.
