The DC and battery light are indicating that power supply is good. When I turn it on the power light goes on the HD light blinks the keyboard lights blink and the monitor get a light glow but doesn't come up even if I attach an external monitor. About 2 weeks ago I was able to get the system to come on with the monitor band about 20 min in the monitor shut off.

Yes the original items I have done as well as blowing the whole system with compressed air to make sure it wasn't a dust issue. How do I take the ram out?

  • dceier Aug 01, 2009

Ok, I think I found the RAM, there are 2 cards. So I take both out and then turn the computer on?

  • dceier Aug 01, 2009

Ok, yep correct spot, I have 2 that look like the 2nd pic just took them out and will try turning on and then replace

Does the DC in light flash?

How is the battery and Dc in led state?

What happens when you try to turn it on? do you get a blink code from any of the leds or beeps from the machine?

Try taking out the battery and the ac power. leave it be for 5 minutes, plug in the power adapter, try turning on. if it doesn't help, unplug wait 1 minute, plug in the battery (Remember you did the last test withOUT the battery).

Now try turning it on with just the battery, what happens?

let me know.
thanks

Have you tried any of my suggestions yet?

I would also suggest taking the ram out of the laptop, then try starting up with no ram inside the laptop, it obviously won't start up (still turn it on and let it run for 1 minute ). Turn it off. Place in the other ram module and try starting up, if you don't get picture remove the memory module and try the other slot.

if that doesn't help take all the ram out again and start up without ram, now repeat the above steps with the other ram module (if you have 2, if you have 1, just do it ones)

there should be a cover on the bottom of the laptop which contains the ram modules.

disconnect battery and ac power when removing or adding internal components.

Toshiba satellite p105-s6227 built in and external monitors not responding

Your Graphics Adapter may be bad. You didn't post the results of the screen testing in another laptop? Did the screen work? Has the laptop been overheating due to dust build up in the fan, vents, heatsink? Has the Thermal Paste degraded/overheating causing a failure of the Graphics Adapter? When you boot does the HDD blink? Sound? Fan spins? Just no monitor? Any damage? drop? Possible loose connection of the Graphics?

I have a Toshiba Satellite P105-S6227, when I turn it on, it does one of two things, it either just shows Toshiba in bold letters, and never directs me to my password screen (but the screen is working), or...

Reads like you have a hardware system fault. Check your RAM chips are seated properly and test your HDD using a linux liveCD and running diagnostics tests (UBCD4Win is good for this too).
The other task would be to update/reflash the BIOS.

Leave battery out and use power supply, if that works battery is faulty. If not it maybe a hardware fault. Do you hear a beep when it starts?? If not could be faulty ram / video / mobo.

I have vertical lines (15 of them now) on my Toshiba laptop.

I'm afraid when you see vertical line on an lcd panel, it most likely is screen failure. Ebay has plenty of screen from good companies in Texas. I get most of my screens from Ebay store LCDTECH99. They have the best prices, most screens are under 100 bucks and they ship right away. The Toshiba screen is an easy repair, Only the bezel needs to be removed in most cases. Below is a guide to show the process.
