Warning PC entering power save mode

I have an HP a350n. I'm not sure when it started, but before it happened while I was on the computer the graphics on the screen got all distorted. Shortly after that the computer shut itself off and I got the Warning pc entering power save moded. I shut it off and left it alone and tried to start it and it worked, but only for a few minutes. Once I got it to turn on again I went into the control panel and changed all the power save options to never. After that I took the cover off and air cleaned the dust out of the inside and I replaced the battery in it. It still wont turn on. I unplugged everything except the keyboard, mouse and monitor, I unplugged the pc then pushed the power button. I plugged it back it, and still nothing. It sounds like it is doing something and the little yellow light at the bottom flashes, but nothing. It never gives me an opportunity to push f1 or f8. Everyonce in a while I can get it to work, but like i said, not for very long befoer it craps out on me.

I bought my computer in 2004, so I don't think it is under warranty. How do I know where the graphics card is? I know I have a NVIDIA GeForce 4MX 440 AGP 8X graphics card.

Based in the information you have provided it could be a video issue. Since you did air clean the inside of the case, did you check to ensure that the video card was securely in place? You mentioned that the graphics issue was the start of this. Therefore it may be a problem with the graphics card or if you are using the built in video, it may be an issue with the graphics chip on the board. If you are using a video card, see if you can find another to replace it with and try using a new video card with it. You can basically break down the issues by starting with the first issue at hand. I would also check and see if your system is still under warranty and talk to HP prior to doing anything with your system. Let me know if this helps. CK

Monitor displays "warning pc entering power saving mode

Hello
Sounds like to power settings were set too low. Restart the PC, before it gets to Windows press F8. This will send the PC into SAFE mode. You'll get a menu of which SAFE mode to select, just select SAFE mode with networking. Once in SAFE mode, go to START, Control Panel, Power Options. From there select new settings. Since this is a desktop, I would make the settings very long. Good luck

Graphics card removal

Unplug your computer, open the CPU and remove the old graphics card (the one where you attach your monitor cable) and replace with your new graphics card. Handle the card by the edges and avoid touching the sensitive electrical components. Insert it fully to the card slot (a loose video card will prevent your monitor from working). Once the computer prompts you that you need the driver for it, just insert the CD that comes with the model of your new graphics card and follow the directions.
