One day my SL Waber powerhouse 500 UPS stopped working

One day my SL Waber powerhouse 500 UPS stopped functioning as a power bar. In other words, when turned off the unit continued to supply power to whatever was connected to it. Any idea what is going on here?

I use my SL Waber as a power bar for my computer and for my modem and router. When I am using my computer, I obviously have both my SL Waber and my computer turned on. If my wife wants to use the modem when I am not using my computer, she just turns on the Waber PH 500 to turn on the power to the modem. What she does when not using the modem is to simply turn off the power to the Waber PH 500 (which then turns off the power to the router and the modem). When I came home from a business trip I noticed that the modem was turned on. I had assumed that she had left the SL Waber PH 500 turned on. Upon inspection, it was clear that the SL Waber PH 500 was turned OFF, but the modem was receiving power through the SL Waber PH 500. This was and is perplexing: if the switch is turned off, how can power be getting through to things that are plugged into the SL Waber PH 500? I guess that the most obvious issue is that I could simply have a faulty switch.

    Hope this clarifies things.

SOURCE: UPS problem

Based on your post/description, two (2) possibilities:
1. electronic fault - main power/AC mains sensor which could be really just a relay; or
2. corroded fuse terminals or fuse holder.

The first is a bit of a challenge since different brands/models have different sensing circuitry design. Some can be as earlier stated, a simple AC relay while others could be a TRIAC switch with a DIAC trigger. Still, some could be an elaborate AD converter and a myriad of logic circuitry. Often, a service manual or at least a schematic diagram would be needed, however these are not that readily available and most often the tech or DIYer must resort to winging it. This of course would require familiarity with electronic circuitry and components, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. Extreme caution must be exercised since even with 12VDC supply most of the electronics are at least at 60VAC+ level.

The 2nd possibility would be of course be the easiest to determine and repair. Replace/clean.

Should the downtime & repair cost makes the project no longer economically reasonable, perhaps your best bet would be to simply replace the UPS since their prices are relatively low.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: apc ups flashes red light to replace battery, but battery is new

i think by replacing the battery has not been the solution to the problem

u need to check the battery charging voltage when turned ON with main electricity, if no voltage present from charger, there is no question of battery getting charged and also once the battery is down with charge it may not re charge hence the indicator and alarm.
recomended to nearest service centre

SOURCE: compaq r3000 ups drops out while pluged in to a\c power

Did you ever get a resolution to this issue? I have the exact same problem. Someone advised that I should ensure that the Sleep mode is disabled through the config but that is already the case. Do you by any chance have the UPS in a non-air conditioned room where it might be getting too hot? Secondly, do you have both the battery leads connected to the battery pack or just one of the pairs is connected?

Rattle in the fore end

A 500? A 535? A 590? A 600? An 835? All the same, the classic 500 action. The forearm is designed with separate action bars that are pinned in place at the action bar collar on the action slide tube. The pivoting bars made binding and bending of the bars an impossibility and allowed the gun to function even when wet and dirty as sporting guns tend to get. At that time, the late 50's, bent action bars were a pretty common thing. At that time, replacement parts weren't an Ebay bid away. The Mossy pinned bars made the Mossy 500 work well and keep working when others didn't. It's designed to be a bit loose....but today's parts are easy to come by. If you want to stop the looseness, there's an easy way. Remove the forearm wood, make sure the gun is unloaded, of course, and then pull the action slide tube all the way back as if you were pumping it to shoot. With it ALL THE WAY BACK, heat and solder the joint where the bars are pinned to the collar. Takes just a dab of solder on both sides. Word of is NOT easily reversible! If you don't like the solid feel later, it'll mean a new action slide tube!

I have a very old SL Waber PowerHouse 250 that I brought out of storage. I bought an after-market battery. After plugging it all back together, and plugging it in, I find that the LED does not light. No...

Sounds more like a problem in the UPS than the battery. If you don't have a voltmeter or a friend who has one (should read 12 volts), try connecting the battery to a 12v car light globe (brake or turn indicator globe). The globe should glow brightly and get warm. If so, the battery is fine.

My 500-A Ups is making Buzzing sound.

APC 500VA ups meant for 1 Desktop and one montiro it will have battery backup for 10 to 15 minutes for the above.

Normally, You should make the raw power connected to UPS should be always ON.

The power cables of CPU and Monitor is connected with UPS. When not in use, please press the Button available on the UPS.

The UPS Life is normally 2 to 3 Years only. Now you are getting the sound and Red Light will always blink and not allow to use the system.

Better replace the 12 Vols battery to get some more life for the UPS.

And check for any loose connection of the power cables connected with Raw Power and UPS System.

that's a sure sign that you are in low battery condition, and the inverter is approaching shutdown. You may need to either deep recharge the batteries, with NO load, or replace them completely.
