We have seen many large flat screen TVs do this. It is usually one or more bad capacitors on the power board.
  • A cap is a few bucks and easy to replace if you can desolder and solder.
  • You need to identify the bad capacitor.
  • The bad cap will look buldged out or extra fat and deformed.
  • The small cross on the top of the cap usually splits when they go bad.
  • (This is because of a chemical reaction in the capacitor that expands therefore leading to the buldging.)
  • Find the bad cap and replace it.

I replaced the capacitors with a matching kit. Everything looks fine with no cold joints. It still will not come on. What else should I look for. There were only three capacitors with popped tops, but I...

Are you sure that the caps were installed in the correct position ? It does matter. Did you buy cheapy caps or the preffered Japan made gold caps, if you got made in China caps just replace them with quality Japanese stuff and you will be happy.

Instead of replacing the Capacitors may be is better to check the the amount of current by loading each one of the capacitors. In my dell E193Fpc the capacitors don't look swollen. The question is what is...

That will take more time than repalcing the caps, bad caps can have high ESR, to measure current discharge during the AC discharge cycle of 50~100KHz each power supply will be real hard unless you have very low Z AC amp meter that has frequency response higher than 100KHz and not introduce resistance in series with the cap, if you look at the rating of ESR (PANASONIC fm/fc series cap made for switching power supply, it is in milli Ohm range. Better off replaceing 50 cents parts or use good cap meter that can do leakage, ESR, capacitance test if you want to analyze the caps, shop time will be too expensive. Just my 2cents adn 30 years of experience.

Its an electronics project. Open the back of TV, look for the CAPXON capacitors that are bulging on the top, replace the capacitors with USA or Japan versions. Capxon is made in taiwan and is garbage!!! Vizio used these cheap capacitors and the are popping on TV's all across the USA.

The replacement caps cost about 50 cents each. Look on youtube for videos it will help if you never replaced something like this before. You need to find a compatible capacitor, look for low impedance and same dimensions as the original CRAPXON capacitors. Don't use Radio Shack caps because they are general purpose, you need low impedance caps, same as you will find in some Dell power supplies!

For me the 2200uF caps all blew at the same time.

My samsung lnt4065f quit working we took back off and found two capacitors are swelled, is this easy to fix it myself?

Yes it is easy to fix...the capacitors can be found at your local radio shack. Remember when replacing electrolytic capacitors, if you cannot find the exact uf and v specs, you can go higher in both uf and v specs, never go lower as you might blow the caps again. I have done several samsung lcd monitors and i replace all the electrolytic caps on the power supply board, exception being the 1 or 2 high voltage caps (200v or 400v). Make sure you keep notes as you remove the board, so that you can put it back together correctly. In my experience, it's only the caps needs replacement! Good Luck!

Replacement of the 2 capacitor's that are damaged

I too have heard of the 2 capacitors that cause the 7 blink red led symptom. We had our phillips TV 2 years and then the problem. I took the back off our TV last weekend and sure enough on the main board was two capacitors that have bulging tops (not flat like they're supposed to be). All other caps on the board look fine. I have removed the 2 caps and ordered new ones from Digikey. They are 3300 microfarad 10V. Looking at all the other caps on the board - they are all a much higher voltage rating - some even as high as 450V. The 2 bulging caps are only 10V rated. Maybe thats why they are more susceptible to death. Anyway, my new caps should arrive today and I'll see tonight if they fix the TV.

Fan motor capecitor

go to electric motor shop . take oem capacitor. replace with exact replacement. rule on capacitors is uf or mf rating must be exactly the same. voltage can be higher. for instance if you have a 370 cap you can replace it with a 440 cap but never the reverse. to pull a bad 120 cap and replace it with a 230 cap is ok. but to pull a 440 cap and replace it with a 230 cap is a no no.cap rating must remain the same . volt rating can be higher but not lower.if motor still turns in reverse look at the reversing leads. see wiring diagram on the side of the motor. most replacement motors can run cw or ccw. by switching the reversing leads you can effect direction. usually wired up orange to orange and purple to purple. switch org to pur and pur to org and motor runs opposite direction. be sure you have a new correct cap for the new motor. every new motor should have a new cap and they are different motor might be a 5 mf cap and the new motor might require a 15 cap! be sure power is off and you check it three ways. looks off, checks off with a meter, and is off when shorted with a screwdriver.good luck

Dm board mit wd52525

The DM board is the one with the digital connectors on the back panel. If you already have it appart, you may as well check the caps on all of the boards. The caps that go bad are typically Jamicon brand caps in 1000 uF and 330 uF values. There are also a couple of 3300 uF caps in the PS that cause problems.
