Hello, Nellie - And, your question is? Do you have the spring and need to know where it goes back in the machine? Or, do you need to locate and purchase a replacement spring? What? I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Please add details in the comment box.

I have an old Kenmore and here are the directions from my manual: 1. Draw thread from spool through bobbin winder tension discs. 2. Wind thread around an empty bobbin several times. 3. Place bobbin onto bobbin winder shaft with thread coming from rear of bobbin. Push bobbin winder latch against bobbin until it clicks. 4. Release clutch by turning clutch knob toward you. Start machine.

Remove extension table/accessory box by gentle pulling it away from machine. You are left with just the free arm. In the back of the free arm, lower left corner, you will fine the feed dog lever. Push the leaver to the right to lower the feed dog.Instructions for lowering and raising the feed dog are on page 48 of your owner's manual. Good luck!

SOURCE: instructions for theading a Sears Kenmore Sewing machine model 158.14000

all machines thread the same. TTN tension, take up, needle.
Beginning with the spool, guide the thread through the thread guides to the tension assembly. Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.) If it passes this test, continue up through the take up lever, then down through the thread guides to the needle. Make sure your needle is fully inserted and turned the correct way.( If you load your bobbin case from the left side, the needle rule is normally FLAT to the RIGHT is RIGHT. There are some exceptions. If you have a newer style drop in bobbin or your bobbin case loads in the front then the rule is FLAT to the BACK.

To wind the bobbin, guide the thread around the thread guide on
the left top of your machine, then to the bobbin winder. Wind the thread around the bobbin several times, place the bobbin on top of the bobbin winder, push it against the wheel and press the foot pedal. It should stop winding when the bobbin is full or you take your foot off the control

Pull out the removable table and you will see the drop down feed dogs switch lever behind the back of the machine. Move that lever to the left or right to have feed dogs go back to normal sewing mode OR for embroidery mode.

NEED DIAGRAM FOR THREADING A KENMORE 158.19802 SEWING MACHINE

The threading on these Kenmores is pretty consistent from model to model (good machine, by the way!). Be sure to ALWAYS raise the presser foot when threading the upper thread--insures the thread seats in the tension disk.

By the way, the metal projection at the top left of the machine regulates the amount of pressure the presser foot applies to the fabric and feed dogs. Push it down to increase the pressure--important when changing types & weights of fabric. To release the pressure, push down on the ring that surrounds the center projection piece. AND, when finished sewing, it is a "great" idea to always release this pressure button before walking away from the machine. Leaving it pushed down over a long period of time will eventually compress the spring and the pressure will no longer work like it should. Also, be sure to clean and oil your older Kenmore regularly. Use only fresh, good quality sewing machine oil or liquid Tri-Flow Synthetic Lube. Open the top, side, and bobbin area. Gently rotate or rock the handwheel and apply only 1-2 drops of oil every place metal rubs against metal. You can also lube the specific lever and dial mechanisms to keep them operating freely. Do NOT oil belts or plastic gears/parts. Doing this regularly, ie every 40-60 hours of sewing time, will keep your machine running smoothly and quietly and preserve the motor from over stress and possible burn-out.

How do I rebuild the upper tension mechanism for a singer sewing machine model 507?

It's far too complicated to explain on here. You need to get a service manual for your model, or find one with a similar dial. Make sure the manual covers tension dials. Getting the spring wound correctly can be a challenge. Have you checked to see the if the presser foot lever is pressing against the tension dial from the inside of the machine?

Error Code: Check and rethread the upper thread

Yes. It is a sensor on the take up spring. If you miss threading the take up spring you get this error. If take up spring is bent or broken you get this error or if sensor is damaged this error occurs.

29k13not picking up thread

Take a look at the manual and make sure you have the bobbin going in the right direction in the bobbin case. Each sewing machine is different. On my Kenmore the bobbin drops in counter clockwise, on my old Universal KAB you have to the bobbin with the tread facing away from you when you slide it in the bobbin case then pull it through the slot and put ut under the tension spring. It is the same for the Brother Lx3125 as the Universal.

Remember the needle bar needs to be in the highest point. Make sure the horn goes into the slot in the shuttle race and is properly seated in the race.

The bobbin needs to be about 5 inches long and your upper tread also needs to about 5 inches long from the needles eye. Hold your upper thread tightly so that when it enters the needle plate hole it can catch the bobbin thread. Pull both of the threads beneath the presuure foot and toward the rear of the machine.
