How do I disable my acer laptop keyboard?

A long while back my down arrow key was completely broken off only leaving a missing whole spot and It can't be used. Now as of recently It seems to be affecting my other arrow keys. A few days ago when I restarted my computer It would stop at the opening load page and just repeatedly sound off like an alarm or a key being held down repeatedly. I have to continue pushing enter or any other key in order for It to stop and continue the startup. Today when I restarted It repeated the same thing above but this time when I logged in anything I clicked automatically scrolled from top to bottom over and over again and there was no way to stop It. No matter what I clicked It would do this. I now have a wireless internet keyboard using a usb port but It is still making the same noises when I restart. How do I disable my acer laptop keyboard?

P.S. I'm sorry for the very long question.

Thank you very much for answering this problem. The problem has been fixed basically now. ^^ I was wondering if you could help me with one more thing? My laptop cd/dvd was working fine 2 weeks ago, but now the dvds It used to play will no longer play except one. It recognizes one of the dvds from my box set but the others It no longer recognizes. I don't understand why, and I don't know how to fix It. It keeps saying no disc in my E drive. What can I do to fix It?

ACER ASPIRE laptop PgUbp key came off.

Unless I'm missing something, just put the key back where it belongs. Push down hard, and it'll snap back into its place. If this doesn't work, check the underside of the key. If you see broken plastic, you'll probably have to find a new key. Acer laptops seem to have a problem with keys coming out and breaking (just look at the number of times this question has been asked!)

hope this helps

Factory reset without using a disk and ALT + F10 doesnt work

his MIGHT work:

1. Click "Start," "Turn Off Computer" and then "Restart", if it is on. If your computer is off, turn it on by pressing the power button above the keyboard.
2. Press the "F2" function key on your computer's keyboard to enter the BIOS utility.
3. Use the laptop's right arrow key to scroll to "Main." Confirm that the "D2D Recovery" is "Enabled." If the D2D option is "Disabled," scroll down to the option using the down arrow key. Press "Enter" to change the option to "Enabled."
4. Use the laptop's right arrow key to scroll to "Exit." The "Exit Saving Changes" option will be highlighted. Press "Enter" to save the settings and exit the BIOS utility. Your Acer Aspire will restart.
Reformatting the Acer Aspire
1. Press the "ALT" and "F10" keys together while your computer is restarting and the Acer logo is showing to enter the Acer Aspire's reformatting utility.
2. Follow the on-screen prompts. Your laptop's hard drive will reformat and the original applications will be reinstalled. Your computer will restart after the reformatting process is complete.
3. Enter your name and other personal information when prompted during the Windows operating system setup process.

Keyboard letter not working

Disabling just a single key on Windows is possible, but it is highly unlikely that a computer technician could have gone to Control Panel to remap the keyboard.

More likely, one of the keyboard switches is broken, and the A letter is not working anymore. This happens quite commonly, and when the problem occurrs, the keyboard will be replaced.

You can find out if problem is hardware or software going to CMOS settings, and chosing to set a password. Then setting BIOS password AAA. If the A letter works in there, then the problem is software, and it can be fixed reinstalling Windows, if A key does not work in BIOS settings, then the keyboard must be replaced.

The keyboard for an Acer 5315 is not an expensive part, and can be purchased for less than $20.

If a repair job had recently been done, and the laptop came back withthe keyboard problem, try calling back the repairman, and insisting for having the repair done at a reduced fee.

Right arrow key permanently 'pressed' down

Only solution here is to unplug the keyboard from the mother board. Just take apart the case and look for the ribbon cable going from the keyboard to the motherboard, and take it out.

Button broke off PC keyboard

Is it a flat key or a normal keyboard type key?

If its a flat key make sure the things underneath the key are flat against the key and put it back on its spot and just press down on it until it clicks. You may need to press hard but please don't press too hard or you might do some damage.

Two of the keys fell off. Its a acer aspire 3050.

the is an armature under the key that holds it evenly flat. make sure that is not missing before snapping the keys back in place.
If the parts are completely missing your best bet is to find a complete keyboard on an otherwise broken machine that is the same as yours.
good luck

Replacement acer key

In most cases the entire keyboard needs to be replaced. Your best bet is to contact the manufacturer to purchase the keyboard as laptop parts are 99% proprietary.

Acer Laptop keyboard problem

It sounds like you have a problem with your CMOS battery. I had a similar problem with another Notebook recently. The computer does not know its CMOS settings (including the BIOS settings) anymore since the battery is empty or damaged. When you enter the device selection (F12) it saves the information again so it can boot normaly now. I think you should get a new CMOS battery and the problem might be solved. Also the keyboard problem might be fixed with that - i also had keyboard problems with the Laptop i mentioned above when the battery was empty.
