Question about Canon PIXMA MP240 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I have a Canon pixma mp240 all in one printer. My print head settings are off, and running the print head alignment program doesn't help. When printing on regular quality, the entire body of print shifts left to right every couple of inches down the page by the width of a typed |, possibly twice that. This makes reading every few lines tedious. When printing on high quality, everything prints double, as if you were looking at the page slightly out of focus. When I continue to run the print head alignment program, it seems to get worse. Is there a way to reset this machine to factory settings, or is there a part that needs to be cleaned, or is this a bigger problem?

SOURCE: Printer won't align.
Look for a reset button or hoe to reset in the manual This is usually done by pressing a combination of buttons on the printer side with the power off- and whilst holding down powering up. If the manual does not tell you- it will be trial and error. An E-mail to Tech Support at Lexmark may come up with an answer. or take a look here http://www.fixya.com/support/p306828-lexmark_p6250_photo_all_in_one_inkjet/solutions or here www.fixyourownprinter.com

SOURCE: print alignment
Did you set the No. after the alignment print? The prob described is definitly a alignment prob. In case you cant do good by setting the right no. after alignment print the printhead has to be corrected by service personel only.

This is simply a case of the ink tanks not being pressed in hard enough. They do click in, as the manual instructs but, unless they are fully pressed in top and bottom, this problem occurs. It's a shame that the Canon manuals and even the support centre do not mention this simple solution.

You only need to clean the encoder strip. The plastic strip behind the carriage assembly. Wipe it gently with a damp Q-tip and the double lines will go away.
