Are there any desktop icons on the screen?

    Ok,
Press Ctrl, Alt, Del and open task manager, in the top left of the window you will see "file" click on that and select "new task" (run), in the box type explorer and hit the enter key.
If the desktop icons and taskbar comes back please let me know and we will see if explorer is disabled from starting up.

    Good luck.

First move your cursor to the bottom edge of your screen and the familiar Start button and clock should reappear (if it doesn’t, hit Ctrl+Esc, or try moving your cursor to the top, and each side, your taskbar may have “jumped” to one of those edges). If it reappears
Set your Taskbar to the way you like it, and then lock it down. Go into the Start Menu and Taskbar Properties options menu. To do so, right-click on any open part of the Taskbar and select Properties.
Now you will see options (You want to uncheck lock the task bar while you make your changes, and then when you have everything set to your liking, lock it again. While we’re here, make sure “Auto-hide” is deselected, then save and exit.

How to make the taskbar reappear when it disappears in Windows

Sometimes on a computer running Windows, an application will crash or an unstable process will lock up the system, and out of nowhere the taskbar that runs across the bottom of the screen will disappear. The rest of the desktop and all of your icons will probably still be visible -- it's only the taskbar that is gone. Without the taskbar, you can't access the Start menu or view the open programs in your system notification tray.

To get your taskbar and Start menu back without shutting down your computer, hit <CTRL><ALT><Delete> and then (depending on the version of Windows that you are running) choose the appropriate option to open the Task Manager. (In Windows XP Professional, for example, there is a button labeled "Task Manager".) When the Task Manager window appears, select File from the menu bar and then from the drop down menu click on "New Task (Run)". Type "explorer.exe" into the text bar and hit <Enter>. Windows will sort of "reset" itself, and the taskbar and Start button will reappear. (This may take a minute.)

Whatever caused the system to become unstable in the first place could easily happen again, so at this point it's a good idea to save any unsaved data, close all open applications, and then shut down and reboot your computer. If the same problem happens again, make a note of which programs you were running when it occurred, as it may be a resource conflict or compatibility issue that's causing the problem.

Dell Inspiron 1525, my battery icon went missing from my taskbar (bottom right corner) and I can't restore it ..... plz help me :(

Hi,
The battery meter should display in the tray by default if a battery is detected in the system.
Let's try setting this manually. Please right click on the Sytem Tray to surface the context menu. Choose "Properties" off of the context menu--this will bring up the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" dialog box. Select the "Notification Area" tab. At the bottom of the tab, is the "Systems Icons" area. There is a check box for "Power". Please "check" the checkbox and click the Apply or OK button. The Battery Meter should show up in the tray.
Let me know if this works. Also, it would be helpful if you could send me the manufacturer and model of your notebook.
Thanks,
SF

My dell inspiron 1525 webcam wont work with yahoo messenger

This is happening because the Dell webcam central is accessing the webcam at the same time as yahoo messenger. Click on start and click on Run(XP), Type MSCONFIG in start search (Vista) and you'll get the system configuration utility. Open it and go to the startup tab. Uncheck anything related to Dell webcam. Click on Apply and OK and restart the computer. If yahoo messenger shows a black screen uninstall Yahoo messenger and reinstall with the more recent version.

Taskbar and start menu disappear

Move the mouse to the bottom of the screen to make the taskbar reappear. If you want this to display at all times, right-click on any blank area of the taskbar and select Properties. Clear the checkbox next to Auto-hide the taskbar.

Blue screen problem

This happens mostly when new hardware has been installed. If you have increased the memory, hard drive capacity, or anything else, reverse what you did, and try again. If that does not help, try booting in safe mode, and take the laptop back in time.

Try a system restore if it will allow you. If not you may need to run a system repair with your recovery or operating system disc.
