Are your dishes cloudy rather just just plain dirty? If they are cloudy, the Feds changed the law on phosphates in dishwasher detergents by reducing the level to almost nothing. This will severely hamper your detergent's cleaning ability.

To get around this problem, you will need to purge any and all deposits in your dishwasher waterways. To do this go to the store and purchase a product called "LemiShine" (Walmart has this item). It's in a plastic canister about the size of a cleanser. Run your dishwasher for two complete cycles with the LemiShine in the main receptacle. If it's really dirty, on the first wash and about half-way through each cycle, let it stand for about ten minutes mid-way in the wash.

After that, you can just put some LemiShine in your main dish once or(maybe) twice a week.

This stuff works something like a coffee cleaner works, but on dishwashers. It cleared my problems up in about one container.

SOURCE: soap packets don't melt/disolve

sounds as if you amy have a problem with the dispensor door not opening correctly perhaps opening at end of cycle when all water is already released.Ive seen that sometimes the "tabs" or "packets of detegent are too tall and interfere with normal opening of the latch mechanism. manufacture would reccommend using powder instead.

SOURCE: my viking dishwasher does not rinse the soap scum off the dishes

Its not soap, its actually calcium from hard water. There is a new product out at www.dishwasherfilter.com that solves this problem once and for all. It is a small filter that goes under the sink and filters out the hard minerals that cause these spots from the water before they enter the dishwasher. It is very affordable (like 70 bucks) and even has a money back guarantee. After just one load you will be amazed how your dishes look.

SOURCE: doesn't clean anything

You should try running a load with 4 cups of white vinegar and no soap through the unit. This should help remove some of the soap scum and build-up that has accumulated. Hope it helps _MJ_

SOURCE: dishwasher leaves baked on soap

I imagine you've already checked that you're using the correct amount of detergent for the wash programme, and that you're washing the correct quantity of dishes for the wash programme, though if not, try that first!

Is the dishwasher heating the water to the correct temperature? If it's not rinsing at a hot enough temperature, the detergent may leave a residue. In that case, your dishes would probably also be less than entirely clean; they could be slightly greasy when removed from the machine.

Another possibility is that insufficient water is supplied to the dishwasher, so it might be worth checking the tap that lets water through the hose and into the machine. Does the tap turn on fully? Does it turn off properly?

The other thing that might be worth trying is an empty wash: put the machine through a wash programme WITH detergent but WITHOUT dishes, at the programme with the highest temperature. Is all the soap scum washed away? Or is there still a residue inside the machine? If the empty wash works, you probably need to give your machine a maintenance wash once a month or so. This is often the case if you usually wash your dishes a few at a time on a short programme.

I hope some of that helps. Good luck!

My Samsung model #WA4H7000AW/A2 seems to always need an additional rinse to get rid of soap left behind. Is this a common complaint ?

Here are some questions that may help.
1) Is the water hot enough? Since the soap "melts" better at higher temperatures, cooler water can leave a soap film.
2) Are the dishes clean before you run the machine? We like to used the dishwasher to "sanitize" the dishes, so we rinse them really good before washing them, to get off caked food residue.
3) Try changing washer soap, try powder if you used liquid, or visa-versa, and try less quantity and see if any of those help.
God bless your efforts.

Dishwasher does not clean dishes. Some soap remains in soap dish. Have tried on the enrgy saver cycle and 1 hour cycle.

Hi jerry1413,

Firstly, make sure you are using powdered soap, and not the 3 in 1 tablets. The 3 in 1 Tablets only release certain parts of itself on certain temperatures, and because all dishwashers aren't alike, they won't have the best of results on all makes & models. Cycles aren't run the same way on every Make, and don't follow the same order either. Trust Me ;-) , stick to Powder.

Furthermore, check the following link for some advice and suggestions on getting your dishwasher to clean properly again:

Kind Regards :-)

Recent changes in the law prevent soap makers from putting phosphates in dishwasher soap so they're not as effective as the were even a few months ago.  Unfortunately,  the solution is more thorough rinsing before loading.

Dishes are not clean after the wash, dishwasher soap is not completily melted. This is the second time in 2 days.

Firstly check that your Spray arms are not clogged at the holes, then check the soap you use, some of the latest soap on the market (Like Finnish Power-ball), only melt and dislodge when the dishwasher reaches the correct temperatures, check the soap packaging.

Hope this helps

Good Luck :-) - J.Q

Dishes are left with a white film after cleaning.

Get a bottle of dishwasher cleaner and run it thru a cycle follow the directions. make sure you have a rinse aid and use a liquid or high quality soap. The white is left over soap. If you have hard water the hi quality soap is even more important.

Bad soap residue

Poor cleaning on this model is often due to debris in the sump area of the pump that blocks water flow to the spray arms. I have put together some instructions on how to clean this out. Follow the link and let me know if this helps.

Can't get rid of the soap...

One buy dishwasher cleaner or run bleach in it. But the reason why is because of hard water the hard water makes the soap stick to everything. And you might be using tomuch soap only use the main side not both and make sure you us jet dry. But the beat thing you can do buy water sofiner and then you can us even less soap and it will clean better and save the life of your dishwasher. Look at the film you can see, now think about the film you can't it's pritty sick
