I have a problem with my hp officejet 6100 all in one printer. I replaced the color ink cartridges and the message I receive is "scanner has failed, please turn off the printer and then turn on again." I have tried that numerous times,however,it does not work.

Here is a video from HP explaining the process. IF you followed this procedure and are getting errors, then you may have bigger issues. I am assuming you are using genuine HP ink, not remanufactured or refilled cartridges.

hello, some of the time the color ink cartridge can cause the problem, especially if its a refilled ink, but at same time, i do know some of the new inks right out of the box will fail. so try with a new color cartridge first.

Have all-in-one HP 7130. get error message stating alignment failed. Problem started after I replaced cartridge ink.


Whenever you replace inks it will want to do alignment. Before installing new inks you should dab the bottom gently on a damp paper towel and see that all colors make a stripe on the towel. If any colors are missing during alignment it will always fail.

HP J4500 color cartridge error


Take the cartridge out and clean the contacts off with something (ie: pencil eraser, your thumb...) That worked for me! I couldn't find a solution anywhere even after chatting with online tech support from HP. Quick and painless! I hope this helps...

I just installed a new black ink. The error message keeps on saying wrong color cartridge installed. I replaced with the correct one for my officejet v40. Black 15.


did you try changing the color cartridge too? I had problems with ink cartridges that were not HP cartridges.( not made by HP but some other co.)

Message: Remove and check ink cartridge


hi just fixed my 6110 hp by pulling out spring wire that is on right hand side where black ink cartridge gets inserted i think it was preventing a good contact

i did this after following all other help hints including cleaning heads etc and replacing with new ink now it works perfect hope this works for you too
