Sounds like the reverse mechanism has jammed...either with lint or lack of use and oil/lint has frozen the mechanism.
Unplug the machine and remove the base. Clean all the lint with small brush and vacuum.
Try the reverse lever to see where the connecting rods are and identify the collar around the bottom shaft....try to move manually, use a little lubricant where the collar moves on the shaft.
In extreme cases it may take several applications over several days to rectify this.

2001 Touch Tronic. Worked fine yesterday. Today, why can't I wind a bobbin?

If you haven't cleaned and oiled your machine recently, you might start there. Consult your owner's manual, use ONLY fresh, good quality sewing machine oil, and apply 1-2 drops of oil each spot specified in the manual.

If the machine bobbin winder is still not working, does it still sew? If so, you probably have two choices:

1) Take it in for service
2) Buy a standalone bobbin winder (~$30) from JoAnn's, Hancocks, or Amazon.com

If the machine does not sew, take it for service.

I need help with my Elna 6400 sewing machine. It is threaded, and the bobbin thread is where it should be, but when I sew it only leaves holes in the fabric.

Check to make sure that your bobbin is turning the right direction. It is so easy to get them in backwards.
If that does nothing to help, you may have a timing issue, in which case, it will probably have to be repaired. When you used the machine last, did you sew something particularly thick or break a needle? Things like that can throw the timing off. What doesn't make sense is, when you turn it off and back on again, it quits working. Can you sew more than a few stitches once you get it going? And if so, are the stitches normal, or are they bunchy Or is it turning itself off?

I have a Singer Futura Quartet SEQS-6700 sewing machine. Keep getting error code 16, but there is no explanation in the product manual. Can you help?

Generally the error message is due to "some" electrical overload. It settles itself most times by turning off the sewing machine for a few seconds to allow complete shut-down and then turning it back on. It the error message returns, it is best to visit your qualified local technician.

How can I get my PfAFF1221 out of REVERSE?

If your 1221 is like my 1222a, the reverse lever is right on the front, just above and to the right of the needle stack. Vertical is "stop", left is reverse, and right is forward.

My Janome magnolia is 3 years old. Last week I was sewing and everything jammed, needle went to side and broke. It was trying to run but couldn't. I took bobbin out and cleaned it, oiled everything, where...

Try the process of elimination. Take out the needle, take off the needle plate, take out the bobbin case. Run the machine. Does if run full speed? You might have to let the machine run for about 5 minutes. If it runs slow or you hear it slow down, you might have a bad connecting link between the needle bar and the main shaft counter weight. They seize up sometimes. (Shop Repair).

Serger

As long as this is a sewing machine and not a serger, I don't know about them. I only tinker on my own. Remove the bottom. There is a rod running along the length of the machine. it needs to be turned 180 degrees. You may need to retime the machine.

Machine sews only in reverse

Be sure you are in the correct stitch pattern...if you are on a buttonhole stitch or a stretch stitch it normal for the machine to sew backwards. Be sure your length is to the right of 0 and not in a strtch stitch model or buttonhole mode.

Maybe your machines were damaged by the handling process at the airport. They might be unalianed. Try to search on the internet for a sweing machine that offers service to home. Also, if they are new there should be a manufactures warranty that can fix your machine for free. The warranty should be in the box. Call them, and arrange to ship them for repair or replacerment of a new one.
