My Alkalenity has been really low and tried all summer to raise with no success. I'm hoping it's not rusted out from the inside.
The knocking sound almost seems like particles are running through the heat exhacher. Any ideas to help or do you think the Heat exchanger is done

Inside the exchanger is a medal vent which passes the water into the heating area. It sometimes comes loose. Weld it back in place.
Fixed!!
If you continue to use it as is the vent will make a hole in the bottom of the exchanger and you'll pay 350 to replace it.
