My heater also knocks when starting

My Alkalenity has been really low and tried all summer to raise with no success. I'm hoping it's not rusted out from the inside.
The knocking sound almost seems like particles are running through the heat exhacher. Any ideas to help or do you think the Heat exchanger is done
Thanks,
Serge

Inside the exchanger is a medal vent which passes the water into the heating area. It sometimes comes loose. Weld it back in place.
Fixed!!

If you continue to use it as is the vent will make a hole in the bottom of the exchanger and you'll pay 350 to replace it.

The knocking you hear may just be air bubbles in the water. The heat exchanger should be fine as most of the Hayward heaters use a copper tube heat exchanger.

Heater doesn't really work, though seems to be always on low, in summer, when I use a/c.

-Heater hose could be clog. Or heater valve is no fully open.
-Check the valve and flush the system back and forward for couple time.

You should be good to go winter.

Astrostart 2100 autostart will not work all the time

It would almost appear that your battery is weak. If the engine doesn't freely turn over the remote start will not work because it recognizes the problem. I would also hope that you plug in your block heater when it's really cold.

No heat

you may have a air lock in your cabin heater, or cabin heater is clogged. first try to bleed air in system by raising the front of car. le *** idle and try to bleed system with bleeding screw on radiator or where ever it is. if this wont help you need a new cabin heater. it is really common problem on older cars.

My engine has a knocking sound

i'm sorry! does the engine dipstick for the oil,is it full? has it been run low on oil lately? is the knocking sound like a real hard knocking, thumping with like deep base sound?if so,do not start it again. you may have a bad crankshaft bearing,or a bad crank, broken crank. if it's a tapping sound, that's different. it could be low oil pressure, just like the lower knocking,it may be bad oil pump.my advice is this, lower knock from oil pan where you drain the oil,do not start! upper,on top of the engine, just change oil 1st add a fram oil filter,if in cold weather recommend 5w30weight oil,in summer,30weight castrol with fram oil filter.is your oil light on? if not, then it'not low on oil,but CHECK your oil on dipstick, just to be sure thank you for choosing fixya.com

I have a whirlpool electric water heater and Im trying to change the lower element but its rusted in and I cannot get it out. any suggestions. I have the special socket but no success

I would try spraying threads with WD-40 and tap lightly on it with small hammer. I would do this then wait an hour and try to remove it again. If it still won't lossen than I would do it again several times. Each time spraying and tapping. If you have a small torch that you can control flame on you can heat and spray it with cold water after you're done heating. Sometimes this will help break rust free. Good luck. Hope this helps. Thanks

Runs for awhile then stalls and petrol fluds out through one air filter carb

The float in the carb is sitcking open and the carbs should really be rebuilt. The float will open when the fuel in the carb is low and when the carb fills up -the float will raise up shutting off fuel to the carb. You can try turning on the fuel on the tank and take a long blunt object and actually knock on the bottom of the carb and try to release the stuck float. If the carbs are half way decent then this will probably work. If they are "gummed up" then removal and cleaning is necissary. I hope this helps -I've encountered many of these-hope this helps!

Have a Triton Millivolt pool heater pilot is lit and nothing!!

Low out put voltage from the pilot generator and/or an open circuit in the control circuit...the most common is a bad pressure switch (dirty filters can hamper pressure switch operation).

Really thick ice on back of dehumidifier

It is now frozen because the humidistat, which controls the on/off cycle, is starting to age and forgetting to turn off the dehumidifier. Try removing the humidistat and, using compressed air, blow it out thoroughly of any dust. Then spray the rotary control area, including electrical parts, with WD-40. Then, blow dry again with the compressor and try again.
