Burning smell from Boss 4D vacuum

I have a Eureka Boss 4D pet Fresh vacuum. It worked great but now when I use it I get a harsh burning rubber smell, and the side of the vaccuum feels like it's going to catch fire. It still has suction....but I can only use it for 2 minutes at a time before the smell is back.
