SOURCE: Ice machine works great, but will not dispense
I just repaird a unit with this same symptom. Yours may be the same. The plastic part that holds the switch was broken (pins). See the diagram at http://www.partselect.com/Schematics/Whirlpool/KAZVHYR3.gif Item 15 is the part. The switch sets on a coupld pins and the pins break easily, thus the switch falls off and the dispensor lever can't operate it. If you look up inside with a flashlight you can see the switch, etc. and should be able to tell if it's held in place properly.

, UNPLUG the dryer! Remove the rear panel of the dryer and
locate the fuse. It is white and ¼” wide and 3” long. It is located on the
blower housing. Remove the wires and check to see if it has continuity. If it
does not, you need to replace it.
Please let me know if this help or if I can assist you
further.

Sounds like there is a stray piece of wire or other metal floating around inside the case. Remove the cover and any breakables in the microwave (the power cord is unplugged for this), turn it upside down over a table and shake it, pound the bottom, and shake it some more--likely the offending piece will drop out onto the table. If so, put it back together and whack it to see if that fixed the problem (cord plugged back in). This process can be repeated.
