Question about Mitsubishi WS-65809 65" Rear Projection Television

Mitsubishi WS-65809 65 in Projection TV problem with vertical stripes

On all the inputs but HD input I see vertical stripes across the whole screen, spaced ~2" apart. They only disappear when the input video signal comes in from the XBOX 360 to the DTV input (on RGB with 480p) and only when the format is set to Standard. With other formats (Expand, Narrow, etc) the stripes reappear.
Is this some kind of setting that got messed up or some hardware problem? Please help.

Thank you Bill for the info. You were the only one who came back with something. After paying for premium service 2 days ago, I was still waiting for ANY suggestions.

I will try to find what that PTS Electronics can do for me.

Thanks Bill for the helpful solutions, I called Mitsubishi Service Center an they quoted me a price of $315 plus tax and shipping for the board.

Do you think it is easy to replace the board? Should I attempt to do it myself?

I'm fairly sure that the 2hdw board is the culprit here. The 2hdw pwb is Mitsubishi original p/n# 935c966001 which has since been substituted to p/n#935c966002 and costs roughly $420.00 dollars plus shipping.
It's a common failure in these units, but it's not a difficult repair for a reputable shop..
Another alternative is to have ashop pull that board and send it in to PTS Electronics for rebuild. That might save about $100.00 dollars.
Please don't rate me badly for the bad news.
Good Luck!

No problem, PTS has a site and a 1800 number...

If you're pulling the board yourself you simple send it in to pts and they return it rebuilt. Normally that's about a ten day turn-around - but might be a bit longer with the holidays upon us..

If a shop's doing this repair they might have the ability to rebuild it for about the same money.

    Good Luck!

Boards in a Mitsubishi are fairly simple, compared to other brand models... If you have some patience and know that each plug is numbered and has a corresponding numbered area on the board you can probably do it yourself... Just take your time...

But if you feel a bit uncomfortable get a pro... It would be a 20 minute job for some tech...

Add hdmi port to mitsubishi ws-65807

I doubt it as it was never designed for that kind of input, Component works best on this set and it should have only one HD input for a box marked in the menu as DTV.

Why can't my Mitsubishi Medallion go to 1080 with my Direct TV HD service?

if it is a ws-65613 you would have to be connected to the DTV component input on the back of the set as this is the only HD input for this model.

If the set will not go to that input (skips it by) let me know as there is a way to restore missing inputs--if you hook HD in any other way it will not work on this model; let me know if you need help;

I am here to help and know these sets well.

Mitsubishi WS-65907 rear projection TV HD goes blue.

I would look at the source for the Hd signal as being the problem--if you are using some kind of cable or sat box it will deliver the signal to the DTV input on the back of the set--this is the HD input for this set.

It is possible to have a problem like you describe be one in the set--but very unlikely----have you looked on that green signal board for any signs of Glycol?

Anything that will produce a 1080 signal to the DTV input should tell you if the problem is the set or the source of the HD signal that is causing the problem.

If you have questions or need advice let me know--I am here to help people.

if this information has helped you rate this solution as i do this here for free.

Mitsubishi WS-65315 plug in HD comp shows as 480i

In the input assignment menu make sure that the DTV (the only 1080 input on this tv) is set to Y/Pb/Pr and see if that fixes your issue with at least the HD-DVR.

BTW- the HDMI information "1080i HD can only be selected if TV has HDMI inputs". is not correct.

TV screen goes blank but power stays on

Sounds like the CRTs are going into protective blanking due to the vertical output ic needing to be resolderd. Try resoldering the vertical IC that may possibly fix the issue.
