It repeatedly starts and shuts off. I had the battery charging all night so should not be a problem. The light on the charger dock showed green.

Part number #243614-00.
It's a microswitch made by Honeywell that costs about 5 bucks plus shipping.
The attached file has the schematic and parts list.
The CST2000 is well worth spending a few bucks to keep it going. Finding a local B&D authorized service center near you will even save you the shipping as they can order it for you.
Every other component is pretty dependable- the motor, battery, wiring, charging system, spool system- all built to last.
Only down side is you really only get 20 to 25 minutes of hard weedwhacking before you need to recharge. Of course, it's time for a cold beer in the pool by then.

I haven't heard this, but you can go to their website and check, or call Lowe's, H-Depot service departments and they might know. I do know that they both post consumer recall notices, and they'll check their board for you.

I had the same problem with this model. You know, I was angry because this weed trimmer is a costly tool. I was lucky that it had a warranty, so they repaired it for free. Anyway, I'm afraid that these problems will continue soon. Another problem is that this weed trimmer is useless in some cases. For example, it can't pull out weed from hard-to-reach places. It's good against high weed, but you can't pull out little weeds with it. I was trying to find a tool that would be practical in such cases and eventually found an article on growgardener.com that describes various weed pullers. I think I'm going to get one of them soon.
