Maytag washer model #mvwc200xw1 will not agitate, how do we remove the cap under the agitator's top?

It will just pull off and there’s a 7/16 bolt holding the agitator on but if it’s not agitating you most likely have an issue somewhere else what exactly is it doing?

Maytag washer model # mvwc200xw1.fill but wont agitate what is the problem?

first use a meter and check ur water pressure switch? that is what sends the machine the message to start wash cycle? You can test it with a meter and with a manual test? ( first locate it in the panel, it has a plastic clear tube hose going into it, remove that tube from its connection, now put another small tube or hose into the slot where it was and have the machine set to wash cycle with water in it. Blow into the other end of the tube. If the machine starts to wash. the pressure switch is more than likely good. now take the original hose tube and plug one end and blow into it the other end, it should be hard and have pressure, if it is easy to blow and u dont feel any pressure and it feels like the air is going out ? sometimes they get busted open or a pin hole and release air causing the water switch diaphram to not open. if both check ok then next the motor coupler or belt if belt driven.check with a multi meter for continuity the door switch, and if there is a little movement on wash cycle in 1 direction only then check the cam dogs in agitator.

Frigidaire model fex831fso

can you hear motor trying to run if so . there are 2 things to check agitator has a mechanical device that when it spins it grips the agitator and starts to spin . its like a coupling . also the motor two ha a direct coupling attached to gear box both items are made of plastic in time they do break down . but if you motor runs on a belt and does not run then does it work in wash cycle if so motor ok but selector switch not working properly. if both cycles don't work motor start winding has burnt out can you smell burnt insulation around motor if so need new motor . if thi does not help you google you washer machine on line and you might get a break down on what other possible cause that could effect you washing cycle . but google brand and model number of washer.

Hi, My top loading kitchen aid washing machine model KAWS750J is not working. The agitator doesn't spin anymore and the entire chamber doesn't spin for washing and drying. I hear the motor going but it...

Your machine may have a coupling that has failed, this is a rubber and plastic coupling, designed to reduce noise. They fail and the machine will barely work... This is not a hard replacement. Open the machine and look near the motor.

Washing machine fills, but will not agitate, drain or spin

Coupling broken which joins the motor to the gear box. Look and see or listen if the motor is running then if nothing else is working coupling is broke, easy to replace.

Washing machine will fill with water, but won't articulate

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

I assume that you mean after filling, it won't begin the agitate cycle.

If you can hear the motor but the agitator won't move, it could be the "motor coupling". (See the motor section of the Sears site. This coupling is a fail safe between the motor and transmission. If the plastic prongs break, or the rubber center piece wears out, the transmission cannot agitate the washer.

If you can't hear the motor, it could be a timer problem.

Try to manually move the timer to a spin position and see if the motor / transmission move. If they do, it is most likely a timer.

Won't spin

Faulty Direct Drive Coupling (Whirlpool / Kenmore / Roper / Estate)

The Direct Drive (motor) Coupling may be broken.
Many Whirlpool/Kenmore brands washing machines utilize a small, relatively inexpensive direct drive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other.

It can wear out over time or fail under overloading conditions. This protects your transmission from excessive loading.

All functions operate normally except the machine will not agitate.
The agitator is driven by a couple of different methods. The first is the agitator is splined and slips onto the matching splines of the agitator shaft from the transmission. The second is the use of a bell coupling which is splined to the agitator shaft as well and the agitator snaps onto the coupling. If the agitator does not agitate, first remove the agitator and watch the agitator shaft to see if it is working properly. This will require a small load setting of water and the machine set to run. If the agitator shaft is working properly, it is either the splines on the agitator or the bell coupling that is defective. If the agitator shaft does not work properly, the problem is in the transmission.

Last the huming may be the motor is sized! Done, finished!

Old model rca washer machine...will not agitate/wash the clothes, does spin.

If the washer fills up with water and you hear the motor running but the agitator doesn’t move, the agitator coupling is the most likely problem. First pump the water out by turning the timer to spin. Once the water is out, turn the washer off. Now pull up on the agitator until it comes off (it may be hard to pull off). Now that the agitator is off, you can see the agitator coupling, reach down and try to turn the coupling. If the coupling turns freely, it is striped out and needs to be replaced.
