Hi,
Seems unit got problem in amplifier output section that activates protection circuit and causing shut down power.
I'm looking into schematics and get back to you shortly. Let me know if you wish you to repair it by yourself and have necessary tools for repair.
Thanks.

    OK,
Please download service/ repair manual copy from following website link , download all 24 parts of file and use WinRaR to unzip it to get one PDF file. (its 47MB file)

    http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/1...

(Common service manual is used for MX5500D, MX5600D and MX5700D)
You need to change amplifier output IC TDA8920 on amplifier board in unit that is located at rear right corner there exhaust fan is fixed. There are 3 ICs and service manual will help you to find out bad one by testing volts on IC pins.

TDA8920 is available in Part Store, go to following link to have more info..

    http://www.partstore.com/Part/Royal+Phil...

    *IMPORTANT*
Fair knowledge of electronics and repair experience is required to do such kind of repair.

    Thanks.

Will not power on. The red standby light stays lit. The green light shows up for 2 seconds only when first plugged in and then goes back to red.

Solutions:
Check and Try
1. Pull out the flex cable attached power supply to AMP PCB. Check power ON of unit.
2. Pull out flex cable of the ROM
Check Power ON of unit
Probably AMP PCB doesn't work

TV won't turn on. flashes a series of 5 red lights instead of turning green

Usually Sony and LG Blinking Codes are the same. Here is what I have.
  • Unit is dead, No blinks - Problem in the standby power section. Might check fuse,
  • Continuous blink once a second, no pausing - No reply from the jungle IC301 (data bus is busy, shorted to ground, or held high), IK video path is defective.
  • One blink - not used for the self-diagnosis
  • Two blinks - B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits.
  • Three blinks - B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is also a problem in the power supply circuit,
  • Four blinks - No vertical Deflection (V STOP), Screen goes to a single horizontal line then the video signal muted.
  • Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.
  • Six blinks - No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately.
  • Seven blinks - High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits.
  • Eight blinks - Problem with the audio (AUDIO), unit goes to standby and blinks the self-diagnosis code.
  • Nine blinks - Panel Module Error or Thermal Error. If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times you get flashing Make sure the regulator is -12 or -13 (negitive).
  • Ten blinks - Check Q8014 and Q8013 for shorts, leakage, or bad solder connections on the " D" board. If the transistors are bad, check R8051 and IC8005, also on the "D" board.

Replaced bulb yesterday worked fine. Today light will not turn on. projector turns on both lights green for 10 seconds, then power goes red and status blinks green for about 5 seconds, then status light...

green green is power on, normal
then it tries to light the lamp, but it can't so the protection circuit comes activated.
you get red and green blinking

Then it goes to standby, red and off.

so something has happened to the lamp, or lamp ballast power supply.
Take the lamp out and check if all is OK with the 2 terminals in the connector, and the leads to the lamp are intact.

Failing that, I would suspect the ballast lamp power unit

The "on" light is always green, even if turned off. Why?

It occurs when your wii in the Standby, but WiiConnect24 is enabled with Standby Connection is enabled. the content can also be received when the Wii is left in standby mode.

WiiConnect24 can be turned on or off via the setup setting. While the console is in standby, the power LED indicates the current status of the standby connection,

  • Red indicating Standby - wiiConnect is off,
  • Yellow indicating Standby - Connect mode is on. If you hold the power button for 3-4 seconds, the Wii goes into standby mode with Standby Connect off. and WiiConnect24 will not operate until the console is turned on.

THEN THE LIGHT TURNED OFF. thEN I TURNED ON WITH THE REMOTE AND THE YELLOW LIGHT TURNED ON AND A FEW SECONDS LATER CHANGED TO THE GREEN LIGHT AND THE TV TURNED ON. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, BETWEEN 10 AND 30 IT DID THE SAME THING. NOW IT IS OFF WITH A BLINKING RED LIGHT PERMANENTLY ON. TO TURN IT OFF I HAVE TO UNPLUG IT FROM THE WALL. Is the red light flashing at first?
The unit may be going into protect mode. Lets hope it has done the job and the receiver has protected itself from failure.
Protect mode can result from speaker wires touching each other or the Amps2_bing.gif metal case. Check that first.
It can also be caused by unstable ohm loads if too many speakers2_bing.gif are connected to any of the outputs especially zone 2.
If you can remove all speaker wires and turn the unit back on. If it stays on, turn the volume down on the main zone and zone 2 if connected. Then reconnect speaker wires.
